Didn't see the match but that's a bad result for Jacko. Huge result for Thompson and Team Oz.

My wife was in Brisbane yesterday and saw Team Oz getting interviewed on the Southbank.

Very impressed by Thompson - First saw Jordan up two sets and a break on Darcis at US Open last year on grandstand first round and Hewitt was there observing - Thompson had match points but ended up blowing the third then fourth then fifth sets to Darcis - But Thompson was still impressive despite this tough loss - He is a steady smart player with a good head and obviously an extraordinary competitive spirit - Career win today vs Sock and one that could lead to bigger and better wins in the future - Very interesting that Hewitt has decided to focus his energies on Thompson rather than Tomic -

Tomic only plays DC for Australia when it suits him.Tomic had made himself unavailable the last 2 ties for Australia, also at present he has a back injury.

Nole won. Considering that his winner UE ratio was less than 1, I think he can do better. But the conversion rate on first and second serves was great. Great BP conversion ratio too.

Interestingly, all four QF matches are currently at 2-0 (with Australia, France, Serbia and Belgium) leading. Not even one tie went to 1-1. Australia and Serbia have negligible chances of losing from this position with Nick and Novak in the team. Other two have some chance.

Who the HELL is Jordan Thompson? Never heard of him; sorta like Ward, Evans, and Edmunds of GB! Why do these guys sneak up on our best players; even at home? Sock must be terribly embarrassed! Isner's used to it by now! It's a wonder we haven't permanently relegated to the Zonal comp.! We have some good players coming up, but DC is just one of those events that makes the best crumble! IIRC Jimmy Arias turned into a basket-case after losing an early round DC match to someone I'd never heard of in SOUTH AMERICA; maybe Chile! The clay surface, drums & horns, with all that screaming between points was too much even with a significant lead! - - The Nole Blog - -

Lame performance from the Brits... I expected one win... didn't even muster a single set between the two of them. This looks nailed on for France now.

If Kokkinakis can get fit too, then Tomic's relevance is going to get even less. Give him a pass for this one, but his general "I'm doing you a favour" attitude will start hurting him more than Team Oz going forward.

Peers and Groth fall 3-6 6-3 6-2 2-6 6-3 to Jack Sock and Steve Johnson in the Oz/US - still a live match... Kyrgios will really need to take care of Sock IMO. Despite Thompson's excellent win against Sock, I'd still have Isner as the favourite in that one.

possibly we could see a Djokovic vs Murray or Djokovic vs Kyrgios in the later stages. Let's hope we get to see the latter. That is going to be a cracker in a BO5 match.
