Does any one know what Pablo Andujar upto. He is currently ranked around #136. While that does not give him a direct entry into MD of RG, it certainly gives him a direct entry into Quals of RG. But, I don't see his name in the qualifying draw. IIRC, he played in Barcelona recently and so is probably not injured. If so, why the heck he is not even playing in the quals?
Andujar entered the qualifying in Geneva, this past weekend.
He lost there in R2 to a German player Koepfer, ranked 245.
So he did not make the main draw in Geneva. I think he did not intended to play in RG.

If he is fit enough to play (which I am assuming he is), he would actually prefer to play in RG (as that makes common
sense as it gives him lot of money even if he loses in R1). Hence, you would expect him to play in the quals of RG
instead of trying to play in Geneva. Perhaps, he has some kind of promise of a WC from RG folks?

WC have already been decided. All of them went to French players plus De Minaur (AUS) and Rubin (USA) in the exchange convention. So no WC left available.

Andujar came back to circuit only recently after injury break. Perhaps, he felt he is not ready for five set grinders. But, still it is a strange decision.

The following quote is from an article in RG site.

"India has also seen the launch of a new international tournament: the Roland-Garros Amateur Series by Longines. As its name suggests, it is open to all participants, regardless of their playing ability, with entrants fighting it out for a trip to Paris to watch the French Open.

Held in Bangalore, the tournament attracted over 100 young players. Brother and sister Fardeen Qamar and Farat Aleen Qamar took the honours in the boys’ and girls’ competitions respectively and will travel together to the French capital to savour the magic of Roland-Garros. "

I think it is a nice game. It promotes tennis in more than one way, by making people play and by making people see. More countries should do this.

Like clockwork, delmugtro who has the game to beat the nadal got injured just in time for mowgli to vulture like no tomorrow. Ditto for Chung who was supposed to make a dent in the clay season, also has the game to beat mowgli. And like clockwork they'll be fit for Wimbledon and USO to try and be an obstacle in Federer's way.

Delmugtro played his backside off in IW and stole Fed's IW points which would've kept Fed at #1 for all these weeks and wouldn't have give Nadull a sniff of #1 till atleast end of Wimbledon and then not to forget also played lights out at USO 17 too and then folded like cheap tent to mowgli on a HC no less. It's just sickeningly unfair, these nobodies falling over each other to get Fed's number and bending over backwards for mowgli to vulture points.

Anyway as far as RG goes, it will be the same shitty, depressing result with mowgli getting a bunch of nobodies (S&V specialists) in the opening rounds when he's most vulnerable so that he settles down by the start of 2nd week, meanwhile Thiem, Zverev, Djokovic will be killing each other in the other half and then by the final dull will be fresh as a daisy and would play a tired opponent. The script has become so laughably predictable this whole season should be scrapped and grass season should start.
Just bear in mind that Wimbledon will seed Fed #1 at Wimbledon regardless of what Nadal does at the French..I'm not at all surprised by what has transpired here during this clay court season. I gave full credit to Nadal for exposing the opposition as pretenders at best. No matter how one feels about all of this one must pay due to Nadal for what he has achieved...I am so ready to move on from the dirt...LoL

For slams, the draw usually is done the Friday preceeding the beginning of the event.

You would think it'd give players a chance to decide if they're physically able to play or not, but we still have this game "played" of showing up just to default or WD at the last minute to receive half the points allotted! They really need to fix this crap with the ATP; too many WD & retirements in the 1st or 2nd rounds with these so called professionals! :nono: :banghead: :cuckoo:

NBC and Tennis Channel covers RG. ESPN (they used to call themselves the home of the GSs) carries nothing. This combined with work schedule means, I will be able to watch only the mens's final, women's final and one of men's semifinals in old fashioned TV. Further, these days it is becoming difficult to find reliable streams.

Does anyone know whether RG website carries live matches?

Belluci, Dutra, Klizan, Kokk, Tomic, Opelka, Taro Daniel and Gulbis all won their 1st round matches. The deaf player Lee also won the 1st round. Not much progress today due to rain.

I guess I haven't been paying enough attention! I wasn't aware these pros were even still playing; esp. Gulbis and Bellucci! They're almost like a blast from the past, but they're younger than Fedal by a lot! :nono:
