That DQ was total BS! Novak didn't swipe at that ball in anger! He hit in the direction of the backstop & that woman walked right into the ball!
You have to explain the law of physics to me. How could someone walk into a ball that is not supposed to be moving in between points? I'll wait

So pickable that he can’t beat a guy who’s trying to lose.

EDIT: I thought DF was going to retire, but he’s still playing.

EDIT: DF retires.
I'm sorry that Foki couldn't play this match. Djokovic was serving at 40+% first serves. At least it could have been an interesting match. Oh, well. I hope Foki is ok going into the USO.

This is bad form. Umpiring is left to the officials. The players job is to play. Everyone should stay in their lane.
The umpires should be consistent, though. If that player did exactly what Djokovic did in the USO 2020, she should be sanctioned the same way. If the umpire missed that, they didn't have to be swayed. I think they were swayed because they realized the inconsistency. Plus, since when is umpiring left only to the officials? Players endlessly argue it. What about recent video of Rafa giving a first serve to a player when the umpire denied crowd obstruction? (I think it's on the Rafa Fans Thread.) They player overruled the umpire. Why is it "bad form" for players to argue the rules?

The woman didn't move. Watch the video. A ball struck in frustration. Sure, he was unlucky. He meant it just to hit the backstop, but he hit her straight in the throat, and he hurt her. He'd been warned repeatedly over the years that acting in anger on court could cost him, and it finally did.

IIRC, they simultaneously made their movement; Novak hitting ball to backstop & her moving into the spot where the ball was going hit! DUH! :fearful-face:

They did not. She didn't move. I just posted a video for you so you could see it. You absolutely refuse to recognize what happened. Folks are taking to drinking and to their fainting couches over the fact that we're still talking about it, and it's all just about you. Watch the video, stop making stuff up and get over it!

Wow, I am really hoping Rune is okay! Back spasms are not a joke even if you are a young player. Also, everyone has said that having an injury right before a slam is worrisome.
He has had the problems with his back since before Wimbledon where he changed his serve because of it ....

I agree, the umpires should be consistent, but we know they aren't. Some of it is a judgement call and sometimes they get it wrong. Everyone has their job to do. Players do not have time to call their own lines, make sure the match is officiated properly and worry about their opponent. These are the pros, where everything is supposed to be done for you. All you need to do is play. By the way, what Nads did wasn't necessary. He took it upon himself to award his opponent a first serve. That was a judgement call by the umpire.

P.S. I'm not saying the doubs team shouldn't have been DQ. I'm saying it was the umpire's job to do it, period.

LOL. Dude, watch the video. She was standing still. She didn't walk into it. That's like saying the ball sought out somewhere on her body to smack.
