I think what many fans here have done isn’t so much use age all the time as use the quality of the opponents.

Some fans have said the Fedster picked up the bulk of his Majors over weak competition ( aging Agassi, underpowered Hewitt, Roddick, Roddick, Roddick)

And of course the flip side is Rafa and Novak only beating an ancient, get him to a respirator Federer.

Both sets of fans bring up their guy's youth during Roger's strong era and then act like age isn't a factor for Roger's poor results the last decade. Clearly a double standard.

What you seem to forget is the upteen 500000 matches sans Federer where an older player has beaten the younger opponent and everyone says it was because experience/maturity was a factor in trumping youth. Not discounting the advantages of being younger, but simply showing how much different factors impact any match. When someone 38 beats a 21 year old it happens also and I Don’t hear bitching then about the allmighty methuselah issue.

Sure age could be a factor but it’s not THE only factor, or the deciding one, I’d say that gets skewed per fans’ agendas.
