Darth, I was very worried about Anderson at Wimbledon. Roger just didn't have the "feel" he usually has when he wins a Slam. To be honest, I don't know how he won the 2018 AO...he was helped out by a weak draw and Cilic beating Rafa and being himself in the final. But I haven't seen the "great Federer" since Wimbledon a year ago, except for a set here or there. If he doesn't find that form then he's not going to beat a resurgent Novak or a healthy Rafa. The age gap is even more noticeable now. 31 and 37 is quite a gap, athletically speaking.

I think he had that look as late as Shanghai last year though I get your point. Also, I feel that he looked good yesterday. I didn't start watching till 5-4 in the second, but from what I saw I was very encouraged.

My concern is that he's too erratic and the margins are growing smaller and smaller. He might be able to pull that off against a recovering Wawrinka in a best of three, but a confident Novak or Rafa?

I think Fed was quite good at Australia until the 2nd set of the final where he got passive out of nowhere. Even with that it should've been a pretty easy 4th set but again he had a huge mental collapse when he got close to the finish line. I figured he would have some bad results after getting #1 back because at that point it was kind of "what's next"? But I get the sense some of our fellow Fed fans expect that he will always play like he did in IW 2017 or parts of AO 2017. It's just not realistic. I still think he was pretty damn good at Wimbledon last year and big parts of Shanghai and Basel.

Rafa threatening his record (yet again) will keep him motivated, I just wish he had gotten it done at Wimbledon. By the QF there it was clearly his tournament to lose given the draw and the fact Nole wasn't really close to his past powers.

Not really! I said long before the tournament that it would be impossible for Roger to duplicate 2017! He was fortunate to retake Aussie Open, but defending the Masters double in March was out of reach; getting to final of only 1 of them! I didn't think he was playing that hot by the time Wimbledon rolled around and I specifically said he was vulnerable to a big server like Isner, Raonic, or Anderson; actually using their names instead of their games! :lol3: :yesyes: :cuckoo:  :ptennis:

You don't count, you're always predicting he will lose to anyone.

So what do you expect from the second semifinal? Long 3 sets?

You would like that wouldn't you, Mugtoor? A nice long 3 setter so that faker gets a tired Fed in the final and can finally complete his career masters slam after the 1 millionth attempt.

I don't have a prediction; just a hope Goffin can keep Roger out there for a while to soften him up at least! Fed has 7 titles; he can let this one slide by! He needed help to get his FO; "be considerate Roger and let it go! Karma will reward you!" :yesyes:   :popcorn :yoda:

7 is not enough. Fed can't have this attitude he's done a lot because if C-dal hits 20 or more then Fed simply hasn't done enough. And if Fed wins today he needs to make up for the embarrassing H2H with Nole.

No, actually, I am retarded and I'd prefer that one of them withdraws early, so the other one goes to the final fresh.

I don't remember if this is the second or third time that Nole will be playing for "Golden masters" or whatever they call it first time. Does anyone remember?
