Uncle Sam out there getting his arse handed to him by Manna.
Wow. How does Mann do it? He looks like he's barely even playing tennis. I haven't been watching, maybe Querry isn't on?

I just tuned in myself and saw Sam getting passed on a # of occasions. I'm not sure how he does it. He's not a power player for sure. It must be rhythm. W/ his funky style of play he doesn't give these baseliners any rhythm.

I watched his match against Shap--Mann took the 1rst set, it was not straightforward for Shap. True about not giving opponents any rhythm, and also no pace to work with. They have to generate all the pace ... nasty. He struck me as the ultimate pusher.

Definitely a pusher, but not the ultimate. There's a couple of others who are worse. :lulz2:

OK, I'm going to tune in to this one. Was saving my eyes for Rafa, but what the hell ...

Tomic? I saw him play up close live and could honestly say I used to hit a harder FH.
They call Simon a pusher but I would give him greater credit than that.

Who do you have in mind?

No revenge match for Rafa. Muller taken out by Ramos.

Now with Sasha also out, this tourney is Rafa's to lose.

Simon, RBA, ARV off the top of my head.

I wouldn't include RBA.
Why not Murray? He doesn't hit hard, gets everything back.

Mann is trickier than he might seem. Lots of courts smarts there, instead of power.
He frustrates opponents.
Here's to pushers!

RBA is the worst of them to me. Murray plays aggressive when he wants to. It's how he won his slams.

Murray's whole MO is keep getting the ball back and let the other guy fuck up. I rarely see Murray hit an outright winner. You can win slams doing that.
You know Ostepenko hits harder Fhs than Murray ...

Well watching Mann now I gain some more respect for what he does--he's fast around the court, always seem to know where the shot's going

I wouldn't include RBA, either. And I think Mannarino is under-appreciated. He's a middle-weight but has chops.

Rafa dismisses Gasquet again. I would like to have seen him more aggressive, but he plays Richard the way he always does, so a fair choice, I guess.

That kind of mentality might cost him match against Kygrios or Isner in the Quarterfinals (assuming he beats Albert Vinolas)...

Indeed. I'm sure you're bummed that Muller is out. Kyrgios is still in on Rafa's side. But this is an opportunity that Rafa shouldn't miss, for sure.

I think he plays different opponents differently. But he should have been trying to be more aggressive, for the sake of it. As GSM says, this is his tournament to lose, at this point. He'll have to grab it with both hands.
