Are we watching today's Isner match, or yesterday's Isner match? Or the day before yesterday's Isner match? Or is this an Isner match from last week? Or last month? Or is there really only one Isner match, and they keep rebroadcasting it over and over, for fear the Incident at Mahut will be repeated?

I would actually say this Isner rarely show up. Haven't seen him play this well since last spring.
Disagree...he played just as well in Atlanta and Montreal.

Rafael Nadal defeats John Isner 7-6(8), 7-6(3) to win his first Cincinnati title and 26th 1000 Masters tournament title. Also, he is back to world number two this Monday.

You get your wish Luxilon. Rafa ends it in straights. Now he gets his first thrift store vase.

Bring back memories, did it? ;)

Great win for Rafa, he's treating the HC season like May-clay!

Incredible year for Rafa. Hasn't lost a match on hard-court all year. Of his record-tying 5 Masters in one year, 3 have been on hards.

Yeah, I wonder where Broken-Man and El Dude are with their overdone, cliche, and petty "age" analysis.

Nadal's skills and shots are elite but not spectacular.

However, psychologically and mentally he is just of a different breed than everyone else; that includes even Djokovic and Federer. Those two have higher peaks of play than Nadal but Nadal's consistency is awfully unique.

Yes it did, hopefully he meets up with decent competition in New York. Not Isner and a couple willing clients...

I'd settle for draws like Roger's five US Opens. That would be clover. ;)

Anyone think being seeded #2 is going to be a great help for Rafa? No Djoker til the final.

Also, does anyone think being seeded 7 as opposed to 5 makes any difference to Roger's place in the draw?

Great win for Nadal. While not his best performance today, he did enough to win the TBs.

The question now is whether he will be physically and mentally fresh for the Open. There's a reason that ONLY Rafter and Roddick have ever done the Montreal-Cincy-UsOpen together. Law of averages does bound to catchup with everyone. From Nadal's perspective, he will hope it doesn't happen where it really matters - in the Open at NYC. I expect Djokovic and Murray to be fresh and rearing to go. I would still put them as the favorite, with Nadal very close second.

Does Nadal get to #2 for sure? If so, that's a huge advantage, since he avoids Djokovic until the final. Djokovic IMO is one player who got beat Nadal on a hardcourt, even if the Spaniard plays his best.

Finally, I don't think this is the best hardcourt tennis Nadal's ever played. That's a bit much. UsOpen 2010 and the fall season that year: Nadal served incredible (more variety, higher mph, higher peak speed), won more cheap points on serve, moved better and also played more offensively than he is now. Not to mention he was way quicker then.

Overall, UsOpen is going to be very interesting this year. Delpo, Isner, Berdych and Raonic can also make some noise and take out one of the big 4 potentially. Although the winner will likely be on of the top 3.

Roger would settle for the 2010 draw from Rafa :)

No difference between 5 and 7 and I guarantee the top 3 are hoping to see Roger in their QF instead of DP.

I think his serve was quite fast in Cincy, though. I thought I saw a missed first serve at 125. Didn't miss by much, either...
