Masterclass,
This is a dual event and the men played in the afternoon yesterday and the women last night. Thus the men get the early final.

Understood, but still, why so early? Isn't 3 or 4 pm good enough?

Respectfully,
masterclass
That is the problem with main networks(CBS,NBC).
they always have golf,football following..

Ah, right, tennis is a lower rated sport there, even with an American in the final.
Thanks for the reminder... ;)

Respectfully,

Poor approach by Nadal and Iznah has 2 SP's

Yeh, but according to Mr. Carillo, Iznah can't play defense..really? He played a perfect defensive point to get to SP.

I think we need to just put it out in the open that tennis above the heads of most Americans.
It involves multiple skill sets, cognitive ability, and problem solving skills most here can't understand. They would rather watch sports played by tatooed felons with one dimensional
skill sets.:puzzled

Exactly. Between her silliness and Courier's Rafa lovefest. I don't know if I can take much more. I agree Nadal is a fierce competitor, but Courier is talking as if he has an unreciprocated teenage crush on Nadal. :snigger

Well that was an entertaining first set, lots of twists from the moment on when Nadal was down 5-6, 15-40 into a fantastic tiebreaker but he dug himself out of it with some nice wrongfooting serves and clutch play. Isner proved me wrong as he still looks very fresh and sharp. His kick serves on Nadal's forehand are pretty much a lock every single time. It's kind of funny to see Nadal trying to return these over the shoulder kicks with his western grip which equals kamikaze and I guess he's aware of it. :snigger

edit: fantastic atmosphere in the stands I have to say

Carillo destroys any chance of enjoying a tennis match.

She claims JI has no defense..WRONG
She talked about how "great" Rafa's serve is. What?

Courier slobbers over who ever is dominating at the time. His Sampras worship could
be even worse.

Let's hope Nadal puts John and us out of our misery in straights.

The first time warning for Nadal results in a FH error and BP for Iznah

Saved. The defenseless Iznah hits a superb CC FH, but Rafa counters w/ a great drop volley

Are we watching today's Isner match, or yesterday's Isner match? Or the day before yesterday's Isner match? Or is this an Isner match from last week? Or last month? Or is there really only one Isner match, and they keep rebroadcasting it over and over, for fear the Incident at Mahut will be repeated?

Every Isner match should start every set at 6 all to save us all time.

I would actually say this Isner rarely show up. Haven't seen him play this well since last spring.
