I am not going to create a separate thread for this. But, here are the top 5 odds for
winning the Cincinnati Masters

Novak Djokovic 11/8
Roger Federer 9/2
Andy Murray 8
Milos Raonic 14
Grigor Dimitrov 20

Whatever the odds of winning, the question becomes: who has the most to prove, going into the Open? Djokovic and Murray, surely all want to look better before the USO.

Murray has the most to prove. We can easily write off the recent loss by Novak to
mental vacation. Wawrinka needs to prove that he can at least live up to his seeding.

Murray has the most to prove by some distance. Nole has nothing to prove, the guy that beat him also went through Murray, Dimitrov and Federer, albeit not quite as convincingly, he just won Wimbledon anyway.

Roger has something to prove when it comes to turning up for finals but I think the relevance of that is limited because out of the top contenders, the shift to 5 set matches in New York makes it more of a different kettle of fish for Federer than his cohorts.

I think Raonic has to improve on his performances from last week too, where he "survived" Sock and Benneteau before losing to Feli. This part of the year should be a very strong one for him.

I've always liked Verdasco, that forehand is fantastic when he connects properly with it. I do feel that he should have hit higher highs in his career.

I agree. He had (maybe still has) the goods. But I feel certain points in a career has the potential to define someone...the DF against Rafa at AO might be his.

Not playing brilliant so far today, the forehand has been very erratic.

Janowicz thankfully seems to have stopped the annoying and stupid grunting while serving. Hope it's a thing of the past and not just a once off here.

Verdasco won in the 3rd set TB, even though he squandered a break in the 3rd. He's a very talented player, but has trouble with focus and consistency. One of his best runs was after he'd spent time with Gil Reyes in Las Vegas, and got Spain the DC over Argentina, when they were away and not favored. He and Feliciano Lopez pulled that off. (Then, the big SF v. Rafa at the AO.) Maybe he can follow Feli and Tsonga into a late-career surge. But it's going to take a coaching change or a cattle-prod.

Yeah, he just lacked that persistent drive to truly step it up to a new level. Shame, too, because he's such a entertaining player to watch when he's playing well. Jim Courier once said that Verdasco was always more interested in hitting the gym and lifting some weights as opposed to hitting it out on the courts. That's his career in a nutshell, I guess.

Looks like it alright. More interested in posing in his boxers than putting in the hours on court.
