Roger will never play against a hostile crowd. I mean, who hates him except for maybe isabelle?

I don't hate him, hate is too strong, I don't like him is more appropriate and I'm not the only one, if you could seee some comments on French forums, you'ld realize that he's not exactly French's fav player.
Comments on forums, even tennis forums are not really representative. Haters or dislikers, or whatever you want to call them are rarely a majority, no matter who the player in question may be. But you have fans, neutrals and haters. Of those three groups the haters are nearly always the smallest one, but they are usually the most motivated to post their insults and nonsense of all kinds on internet forums, thereby giving a false impression about the lack of popularity of this or that player. Plus, since trollish comments get under people's skins they make a stronger impression on the reader than more measured posts. Read comments on tennis forums, not this one but the more trollish under-modirated ones and you get the impression that most tennis fans hate Rafael Nadal. Visit ATP tournaments and Nadal gets a hero's reception everywhere he plays. Read comments on tennis forums and everyone is bashing Genie Bouchard. Visit WTA tournaments and Bouchard has nearly always the crowd on her side.

I agree that it's easy to develop a warped sense of what is actually going on around the tours and players if you spend too much time reading poeple's hate posts. I dislike some players more than others, some strongly but I hate using the hate word. I've got more important things going on in my life than to sit at a keyboard and hate someone. But the forum is also for us fans to vent, rant and discuss-argue about something we like very much. But then again, if I were at the men's USO final last Sunday, I may have thought the whole world hated Djokovic, when we know he is one of the most respected players and a great representative of tennis. So it goes both ways maybe.

Then when you read someone saying "I hate these players" (I've read it around here) how we can call him? funny, nice, lovely person or hater and vengeful? I really feel sorry for that poster :cry :nono

I take it with a grain of salt. Hate is a word used loosely anyways. You can hate the sin, not the sinner sort of thing maybe? ;)

I have not any idea, you should ask the one or the ones who are using that word :D

He probably will he is in his 30's and is knee two in the world and mopping the floor with most of the field. He just has to relax a little when he plays Djo when he gets up tight he starts hitting a million balls out. Also do well with the serving in general which evaporated in their latest meeting. I was suprised he started serving so poorly it was shocking actually. :( but I see it more as a fluke.

Regarding RG and AO, we Fed fans shouldn't look beyond qf/sf. It's too much for the old man. But 2016 Wimbo and USO, it could easily happen. Murray beats Djokovic after a gruelling 5 setter, or the other way around. On a very hot sunny day, he can beat a tired Andy or Novak. In this I am sure.

Actually, the only player that represents a probable loss for Federer is Novak. He still beats everyone else most of the time.

(Not counting Nadal, of course, although 2015 Federer would beat 2015 Nadal, imo)

However, there is no guarantee Roger keeps this level up in the next 12 months. He may or he may not. We will see.

Roger shouldn't be getting any worse. His level has been way overblown, as though he is playing out of his skin just being the #2 player in the world. There is no reason on Earth that a 34 year old Federer shouldn't be top 3 and routinely getting deep at slams. The guy is kind of talented no?

It's the mental part on the big stage that he needs to work on, that and I hope they start to work on the forehand more. If he can hit his backhand better than he did a few years ago you'd think he might be able to start hitting the forehand a bit better too. Other than that...man up in the big moments and these weak 2014 and 2015 years could turn into great ones. All it takes is one win on the final Sunday of a major.

Well he did something that few players have been able to do. He adjusted to not being in his peak 22-27 year old form, and has been able to maintain a very high level since. My sense is that most top players can't adjust, or don't want to be 90% of what they once were.

We're also seeing no signs of further decline. I mean, he's just as good as he was last year, with no signs of "decay" in his game. I don't see why he would just fall through the floor next year. I think it will be gradual. I mean, he's been pretty steady since about 2010 to the present. Its also worth nothing that while he isn't as much of a threat at Slams as he was in 2012 and before, his winning percentage has actually been better in 2012, 2014 and 2015 (86%) than it was any year since 2007.

Also, there's the fact of the field. Just as Novak will benefit from entering his age 28-32ish phase with a weak younger generation, so too will Federer.

He has a no chance in Melbourne or Paris. I think he has a small chance at Wimbledon and US Open next year but after that if he fails his chances are diminished.

Next year's RG will probably the slam in recent history with lots of possible contenders for the title. Novak, Rafa, Stan, Andy all can be considered legitimate contenders for that title. With so many contenders out there, there is always a chance that Roger, who is not a legitimate contender for that title, takes that (if a lot of things happen including meeting Andy in the final and not facing others). After all nobody thought that Roger will be in the final of 2011 RG either.

He is still playing at a very high level. Wimby and the US Open this year were big chances, though. It probably won't happen at the AO and FO and when Wimby comes around again he is another 9 months older. Gonna be tough with the Djoker around and Nadal should make a sort of comeback next year too.

After all, who thought Rafa will have such a lukewarm clay season this year?
I am staying away of any long term prediction. You never know what is up next.

I am not predicting anything either. My primary point is that of all the four slams of next year, RG has more legitimate contenders for the title than the others. When such a situation happens, it is possible that there could be a crazy outcome in the end.
