There's a reason for the Nishikori-Raonic-Dimitrov generation to be called the future of tennis: they are not the present (but let's wait till tomorrow).

I only saw highlights from the semis but man, Roger is playing good tennis.
Also happy for Milos. Their "rivalry" with Kei is pretty fun to watch and it is always tight. It was time he eked out one. Roger will rush him like crazy of course, but if he does not get broken early, he might have a shot.

Saw the whole match (pretty quick, by the way, no one minute breaks in Pavlik's highlights).

The good thing (for Federer) is that he is making very few mistakes, but Dimitrov did not presented him any challenge. Even if the scores indicate otherwise, the best tennis I've seen from Federer was on the first match, were the opponent did not give him anything for free.

Shotmaking wise, course, these last two matches have been a feast.

A very impressive scoreline. I forget, do these courts play similar to AO (slow/medium speed with fairly high bounce)?

Brisbane is quicker. Last year, a few players commented on how quick they were.

^ Impressive nonetheless, always good to have confidence going into the 1st major. Hopefully he finishes the job vs. Raonic.

Good start to the year for whoever wins anyway. First tournament of the year for them and in with a shot at a title.

From what I could see, he's getting over his backhand really well. And movement looks good too. Bodes well for the start of the year... but too soon to tell much really

The conditions are perfect for him. His backhand often looks great when people hit flat and hard at him on medium to fast surfaces. He dismantled Dimitrov in bh to bh rallies today.

I would have thought that the rest of the tour would have taken a page from Nadal's playbook, and tried to slow the game down a bit.

You kinda have to irratate Federer in order to have a chance at winning. Once he gets a rhythm everything is over in a few miserable minutes.

Roger's winning a Slam this year - mark my words.

(He says, wishfully)

Court seems fairly quick on that feed, but, maybe it is the angle and height of the camera.

Court is pretty quick... and yes, conditions are near perfect for him, even the opponents.

However, the fact is that Federer is playing well, and moving well. Two things stand out for me, which he is carrying from the end of 2014:

Running forehand is way better than last 2 years.
Backhand is much more solid.

Yes, the bh has not been put to test this week, but given that all players in the world go after his bh, he simply trains it a lot, he probably hits 30% more bh's than any other player... so it is really much better now than previous years. Even in those ideal conditions of Brisbane, 2013 Federer would be eaten alive in those bh to bh exchanges he had with Dimitrov (even if Dimitrov's ball does not bounces that much).

I know that Broken can come up and remember how everyone is always optimistc about Federer in the begining of the year (and he is mostly correct), but comparing at least to 2014 and 2013, I think he enters AO with a better shot.

If he can tick all the boxes, he has a fair shot.

Disclaimer: Djokovic is still the favourite...

^Have to agree with all of that. To be honest these days, I assess Roger's form purely in terms of whether I think he's playing well enough to get to slam semi's. If that happens, I willing to take my chances with what happens from there. Right now Roger looks capable of achieving that target without destroying his chances. That's all I can hope for

^ Just a pity the AO isn't a quick hard court as for them to play a final on a quick hard court we'd need to wait till Cinci which is months away.
