A Flawless 1st set display of tennis from Samsonova 6-0 over Paolini
Jazz has been struggling with her game so far this year, the ankle injury she suffered didnt help her cause, I see she still has it taped, still the confidence has gone out of her game, when she is confident she is aggressive and smiling, not the case presently.
Best match I have seen from Samsonova especially the 1st set, Jazz improved a little in the 2nd set, still far from her best
Samsonova d Paolina 60 64 and will play Sabalenka in the QF

Iga wins 63 63, a bit shaky when serving for the match, broken but regained her composure and broke straight back, though Zheng DF maybe the windy conditions hampered by players, though Iga is usually a good wind player
Iga extends her H2H against Zheng 7-1

Out of all the players today in their QF matches Madison Keys was the stand out player

The 1st SF between Iga v Mirra both players are on court to do their warm up
Mirra won the toss and elected to receive
Usual windy day on the main court at IW

Mirra with a bh winner breaks Iga and will serve for the 1st set 5-4
The wind is playing big time with the shots and the player that can manage the wind will probably win this match
Iga breaks straight back her high spin on her shots is difficult to handle on this court and of course the wind being a big factor
5 all 1st set
Iga stepped up her game and Mirra will serve to force a TB for the 1st set 5-6
Rod Laver in the stand watching this match.
It will be a TB for the 1st set, I love the way Mirra goes for her shots, even when she is down in her service games, quite confident of her own ability
Mirra has the wind behind her back at present a huge advantage she leads 4-1
Mirra with the kick serve, which is great with the wind she leads 5-1
Mirra closes down the net 6-1
Mirra wins the 1st set TB 76(1) the first player to take a set off Iga in this tournament

Normal for Iga if she loses a set :) I heard that Iga had talks with the umpire I thought she might call for a physio
Iga back from her bathroom break appears to be okay

With this wind I dont understand why either player has used the slice and drop shots more, using the drop shots when the wind is behind your back
Okay Mirra must of heard me she used a drop shot :)

She's used it a couple times and won the points. Needs to use it more

Impressive 2nd set from Iga 61 in 32 minutes, The Teen Queen who had all the momentum from the 1st set, playing level dropped
Going 3, Mirra has to re set her game

Agree, drop shot especially when the wind is behind her back, Mirra has to re set her game, her level dropped in the 2nd set, and she had all the momentum going into the 2nd set., I felt she was pushing it too much,.

She hasn't learned to sustain that level and intensity for 2 sets. She's still a kid and a bit green, she'll learn.

BTW Sabalenka is the only player left in the draw now that has not dropped a set

Of course she will, she has a great team around her, she has the game, even when she is down she goes for her shots, she has a lot of confidence in herself
