Too early to say "A New Nick?" He focused, played well, and signed the lens "Be Positive." All good.

Turning my attention to Korda v Thanasi match...cold and windy conditions in this night match
Korda winning the 1st set 63,a few breaks of serve in the 1st set.Neither player, playing well, conditions maybe a factor.

It actually calmed down a lot. Fantastic last game of that match, but Korda moves on.

Korda d Kokkinakis 63 64
Actually when Seb was serving for the match 5-4 was the best game of the match,Seb saving 2 BPs,2 great shots to win the match
His touch at the net was outstanding....Seb will play Rafa next
May I say I did not recognize his dad Peter in the stand.I must say he has been enjoying the good life :)

Korda will be a very difficult match on hardcourt. I expect a close one with Nadal.

I only now realized he is ranked 132. I guess that woke him up, at least for a bit. He has a favorable draw here to make a few rounds. He needs points and IW & Miami combo offer plenty. I would like to see Kyrgios play a full year, not just a few tournaments here and there.

I think the fact that he won a slam in doubles at this year's AO has done wonders for him. I know that it's only in doubles but it must have felt big. I think this gave him a lot of motivation.

Nick says he is 'refreshed and a new man" still in ways he has yet to convince me,that was his first match,he is also playing doubles with Thanasi.Lets see if he can keep this 'new focus' for the whole tournament.

Sir Andy Murray will be playing today for his 700 ATP win. I think he can achieve this when he plays against Taro Daniel.

Ya think? I see Korda has to play Nadal tomorrow who's still the 4th seed as an Aussie Open Champ.! I just can't get over that! We've been so spoiled into seeing Fedalovic not only winning all the major events, but usually ranked a lot higher! We'll see what Murray does today! :pleading-face::anxious-face-with-sweat:

Apart from being a slow gritty court,it was very windy in IW yesterday, also in the desert it can get very cold as it was last night
Sir Andy Murray will win his 700 ATP win against Daniel....Mark My Words :)
Apart from Nadal being the AO 2022 Champion he has had his best start to his season 15-0 at the tender age of 35.5 years:)
Don't worry about Nadal's ranking okay....it is on the up and up :)

Fiero, this time of the year that is craazy weather down there, which sort of reminds me where I leave up north but much worse. For clothing, you layer, layer, layer, in that you can wear a tee shirt and shorts during the day but then you better have a sweater, jacket, parka, cap for evenings because the weather dips and the wind kicks in, and Dios mio!

However within a month that area is simply going to be 90+ and climbing 24/7. By midsummer it's 105+ 24/7. I really don't get the allure of Palms Springs.. :astonished-face:

Sir Andrew Wake Up...losing the 1st set 6-1....probably giving Daniel a 'false sense of security'....:)'
Sir Andrew has changed his racket for the 2nd set ...lets see if that makes any difference

Oh, I realize that! Was being a bit facetious! I lived in the Valley of Sacramento back in the 90's! It could get to 111 degrees, then plummet to the 60's overnight! I'm well aware of the weather changes; esp. in the desert! The biggest problem they have is w/ wind; esp. when blowing sand onto the courts! That goes back to the days of Navratilova and Edberg! :D :face-with-tears-of-joy:
