Young Carlos challenge King Rafa to a swimming contest at Larry Ellison's pool at his estate. Rafa said, hey Bro Larry has a yaught . So Larry took them out to the deep part of the south Pacific and the younger Spaniard couldn't make it back as fast as King Rafa.

Great job by both players and congratulations to both. There were no losers today. Carlos is the future. No doubt

I can’t wait until he starts sending everyone home. It will be a fantastic moment in tennis.
Where does these trolls come from. I thought Rafa vanquished the Fedjokic fan trolls with #21 at AO. Good grief, what an asinine comment. Dude, you should go to the local VFW to play bingo with the geriatrics.

Dare i say it, Carlos FH reminds me of Federer, that same whipping action.

This is the type of match that leaves the players mentally exhausted, having to adjust constantly to the conditions. Both Rafa and Carlos admirably just handled the crazy wind even though you know they were both DYING with the unpredictability outside of their control. While there are admirable things from both of them, thank God it wasn't Murray versus Djokovic in these conditions, the BITCHING would have been nigh unbearable. :)

Everyone seems to be so in love with the baby Nadal business, that they have forgotten that Alacaraz's hero is Roger.

Everyone, it doesn’t just mean Nadal. I hope he gives Djokovic the thrashing of his life should their paths cross. It would be great to see him take out Medvedev as well. I can’t wait to see it. It will be a good thing to see in tennis.

I don't think you'll have to wait that long. He's #16 in the live rankings, with a bullet. And he's still 18. He has a great coach who I think suits his temperament, and he has a good head to go along with a lot of ambition. Rafa quelled him today, but that won't last forever.

Like I said, he has the aggressiveness of Federer, the defensive backhand of Djokovic, the forehand and temperance of Nadal and the soft touch of Murray. With that being said, he is still Carlos Alcaraz not the next big one or something.

Just finished watching the final set as I had to go out for awhile
Some of the volleys of Rafa's in the final set were off the charts
Well done to young Carlos

What I'm most curious about as Carlos continues this lightning quick upward progression is how he fares against the other young guns, Sinner, Felix, Korda, and especially the two "crown princes", namely Alexander Zverev and Stefano Tsitsipas. He turns 19 in a couple of months so they all will be facing a younger opponent who is improving by leaps and bounds.

Tomorrow's IW Men's Singles Final will be the 2nd Meeting between Nadal and Fritz. Similarly, it will be in a HC final (2020 Acapulco Open).

For Nadal, the biggest key is his physical recovery from today's long and windy match against Alcaraz. At age 35.5 years, it won't be easy to recover from a long match especially if the recovery is less than 24 hours. But if Nadal can somehow recover well physically, then I think he will win tomorrow's match.

For Fritz, it is just a matter of balancing when to attack the ball and when to be patient with the ball. In addition, he NEEDS to serve well in order to win the match against Nadal. He does not have the big and consistent weapons from the ground or the variety to go toe to toe against Nadal. If he can establish a big serve plus a big forehand, then he has a shot to beat Nadal.

Interesting fact: Nadal is trying to win his 12th consecutive final tomorrow. His personal best is 14 consecutive finals win back in 2005 to 2006.

You were correct when you said the match should continue. Bravo
I remember at Monte Carlo one year, that had to stop a match for 20 mins because of the wind,it was soo bad both players could not see as the dust flew around the court...I am sorry to bring up Monte Carlo again to you by the way:)

Not so fast….

I've always had an idol who is Rafa. During all these years I have followed him a lot. Then as I grow up, in terms of playing style, I look a little more like Federer."
Smart kid, takes something from all the best. :)

Hold on ....Carlos has said many times Rafa is his idol....when did the youngster switch camps and Roger is his hero no?
I now hold some reservations for Carlos.

No worries, if it's meant to be it will happen.
Question: Rafa at present would he be able to defeat Novak's hard court game? The first answer to come to your mind is heck yeah. I think that Rafa is playing some of his best hardcourt tennis EVER but it would be great to see it against it's Greatest test, "the Great Serbian Slayer"(sorry Samson ONLY 45% remember that you gave Novak that brilliant name). I know there's a way for someone on this board to find him and give him a bump.It would be interesting to hear his feelings about how far Nadal has come because I know he has exceeded all of the Rafa fans expectations. Well, I know for this one fan he has.

As for the Great Serbian Slayer aka Rafa's ultimate boogyman, his return to the tour is going to be the second most interesting thing to occur this year.
