Fed is gone! I guess the #1 talk is over now, huh?

Thank GAWD! I love Fed, but he's been gifted a number of matches this season! He's playing well, but his opposition are still choking like dogs in the crunch! Milos finally showed up and did what I've been thinking he was capable of; classic serve and volley and over-powering tennis! It's so Richard Krajicek over Pete Sampras! If you can't break serve, you're in trouble! :dodgy:

Yeah, like Isner. Can't break serve to save his life. :snigger

Is it? Wouldn't it still come down to the YEC and Davis Cup if Novak doesn't win this?

I'm not sure about the #'s. I thought Fed had to get far in both tournaments to clinch it.

If Novak wins the tournament there is pretty much no chance, as in Fed would have to win YEC and Nole can't qualify for the semis. Even if Nole only reaches the Paris finals I think he would only have to reach YEC finals to secure the #1 now

Well done Milos. Not sorry for Roger today. This surface was never going to work out. He will enjoy the much needed rest and come back strong WTF.

Milos , on the other hand, gets his first win against the maestro. That is huge for his confidence and the future. Coming of age for him.

It was about time to strike. He had have enough humiliating defeats. If Chardy, Delbonis could defeat the Maestro, then why not him?

^ Add it up to another one dimensional (and cheating) player that has managed to beat washed up Roger. He had mostly done well to avoid disaster in these MS events this year. Too bad.

So he needs some help from Andy/Kei to still have a chance?

^ Losing to a barely top ten player who ONLY has a serve is. He did get broken after all. Well now it is in other player's hands. Roger could still salvage the year by winning the YEC too.

He has a very good inside out forehand. The rest is not that great indeed.

Common now, be objective. He has a very good volley too.

I wouldn't say very good. I would say average, but has gotten better. He was pretty terrible at the net in past years.

Sure, it's your day ;) It's good, not sure if it's very good, but I'll gladly concede for now.

You know what, would be a shame that Roger steals the #1 ranking. This is not WTA

Roger has had the 5th best season on tour this year, no question about that. But if the ranking says otherwise that's how it goes. It'd be a historic feat in a year in which he hasn't made any other noise.

To have a realistic one. He won't be eliminated from #1 contention even if Nole wins the tournament but what are the chances Nole won't qualify for the semis of YEC?

Thanks. Yeah, well that can happen. A bit dumb to concede a point that you pretty much earned and owned.

This is what I expected; very reminiscent of the old days with Sampras, Agassi, and the rest at their height! "Also-Rans" and other decent players like Ivanisevic, Enquist, and Rusedski could take a late Masters in Paris! Nole still has a chance to keep it embarrassing for the "also-rans!" :dodgy:
