I'm about ready for this year to end as far as Nadal goes. He's just not going to re-rediscover his form until at least the off season.

60 ufes by Fognini lol. In a 2 set match!

Is that really the number?

Yup, 39 winners and 60 ufes. That's horrendous. He hit some gems but a ton of muck there. Same with both of them. Flashes of brilliance but a fair amount of gunk. That last game in particular was terrible. Anyway, time to go cut the grass.

^ I really do not know what this tournament did for Nadal as far as Montreal is concerned. Maybe more happy positive feelings?

I guess I should wait to see Nadal on hards before fully judging. Something tells me he'll be a little better than people think but that won't be nearly good enough. I don't think this win at Hamburg affects things in any way, other than some much needed ranking points.

Well, some happy positive feelings, which he was looking for. But, yes, Rafa goes ahead of Raonic to #9 by 10 points tomorrow. And now he's only some 85 points behind Cilic for the #8 spot going into the USO, which would be huge. (I looked Cilic up. I think he's only defending 90 points at each of Canada and Cincy, but Rafa, of course, defends none. Basically, he has to do better than Cilic at both events.)

Don't forget Cilic is defending 2000 at the USO and let's be honest, fat chance of that happening!

Cilic will be well out of the top 10 next month.

Two positives from the match for Rafa. He movement was better and the cc BH is back. Its one of his weapons that he hasn't had for the past year which really pulls the right handed opponent off the court and allows for the inside fh. the negatives, service was horrendous at times and he was hitting the ball too short. Overall a win and ranking points. Good enough, onward to North America and next stop Montreal:clap

Agreed, that won't happen. But what I'm looking at right now is Rafa going into the USO in the top 8.

You're acting like that would be new. Come on, Front almost always says that Rafa's opponent played like a muppet. You can't let it bother you at this late stage.

I wouldn't say that Rafa has played with a bunch of chokers and tomato cans
On the contrary he has played against talented players which have given hard times to others top players more than one time.
We'll see how he will do on HC but this has been a good win for him, his game is improving, he just need to get more confidence and to play more relaxed to avoid to do so many unforced errors

I mean it's Fognini. His numbers in this match are pretty standard for him. But yes, I am interested in why they argued, to answer an above post.

To both of you, I'm merely pointing out 60 ufes in a 2 set match is a ridiculous amount and it is. Stop being silly. That's more like the error count for a 5 set match and you know it.
