And yet what does it say when two guys are playing equally crappy but one of them (the far inferior player) wins the set 6-2?

It says appendix have no impact on you playing crap.

No, absolutely it doesn't. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Nadal is playing his worst tennis of the season.

Er, he won his last 2 matches handily. And sure they weren't top players but that's not the point.

Actually that IS the point. Because sometimes top players, even when struggling with injury, are still going to be too good for these inferior guys. It's such a copout to say "that's not the point" when it really, really is.

His medication is surely doing well if he's even taking it anymore.

Absolutely! Which is why he just bulled out of Bercy :cover:cover

Anyone can play a crap match as I pointed out with Serena Williams. She lost 6-0 6-2 against Halep in her worst match of her career and not a single excuse about her left knee because she mangled Bouchard 6-1 6-1 next day.

Different match, different player, different circumstances, different injury, different tour.

Top players have off days and Nadal is clearly playing better now, they both are. And btw Nadal's worst tennis is always this time of year so it's impossible to tell how much is surface related crapness or his appendicitis. This court is the most similar to the WTF and he's historically been pretty bad there as you know.

Please remind me the last time Nadal was losing to the Lopez and Kilzans of the world at this time of the year. I'll wait...

Also, I could have swore Nadal reached the final of the WTF twice in his last 3 appearances, but you're right, he's been "historically bad."

2 winners to 13 ufes for Coric and 1 winner to 19 ufes for Nadal. ROFL! Awful by both. Coric's first serve % of 39% was sh1te too. Both can only play much better than this.

Is this legit? That might be the worst stat line I've ever seen. Even the WTA fans would cringe from that.

Nadal made 19 ufes in that first set. Much better play 2nd set. So you're saying his appendicitis was only affecting him for set 1 so since he's leading set 2 now? See, that's how silly it looks. The main cause of Nadal losing set 1 was he played pure crap, not appendicitis. Also, he always plays a lot worse on indoor courts so frankly it's not that surprising. You need look no further than his topspin FH as it's a sitting duck on this surface.

Jesus that's silly man. I'm the one who always says "just because you're winning doesn't mean nothing is hampering you." You're applying YOUR logic to the argument above, because you clearly think that "winning means nothing is wrong with you" or at least you apply it to Nadal. I don't believe in that one bit. You can be at 70%, have a shocker of a first set as a result, improve slowly as the match progresses and beat an overmatched opponent.

I'll still wait for your explanation as to why Nadal is skipping Bercy if this isn't affecting him. But then again, you also struggled to explain his 7-month absence so I'm not holding my breath.

I'm only going to bother answering the part about missing Bercy. He could likely play that tournament just fine but he's opting for surgery now to give more time for recovery. There's a chance he then makes the WTF (pretty unlikely though) but if not, the more important goal is to be healthy and recovered for the new season. That's why he's not playing Bercy. Nadal could also easily lose to Klizan and Lopez more often on this type of surface if they both played well, especially Lopez as s&v tennis with a big lefty serve is a hard type of a player to beat. Actually I answered 2 of those.

I've already answered it. He's missing Bercy because he's having the appendectomy, duh! He wisely is choosing to do it earlier to have more recovery time but could probably play Bercy if he wanted just like he's played here and Shanghai.

That's what popped up on screen at the end of set 1 anyway. Both played a horrible first set.

A lot of maturity and composure there to fire an ace down the T at 30-30 there.

'cos if it bursts you risk infection and much worse repercussions.

I see. So it's a condition that could have serious effects on your life, but none on your tennis game.

Is he endorsing it? Sorry I might have missed it. All I've seen him say is that Rafa was dire in the first set, which is what I said as well

The surface is making Rafa miss all those forehands.

So why did he not make this many of them in his last 2 matches since you're sarcastically saying it's his appendicitis? I get it, the appendix suddenly got worse and will burst all over the court soon and cover the camera with giant yellow and green globules of puss :cover

I don't know, but I'll ask whatever poster made such a "facepalmy" argument earlier when he stated that you may not be really bothered one match, but be bothered another.

Do you have any idea which poster that was? His name escapes me.

:cover:cover:cover:cover:cover Indeed.

Yeah, I just said Nadal played crap. Any player can play utter crap any day of the week with no ailments. He's also playing much better this set so clearly it was just a bad set or else the appendicitis was hideously bad in set 1 and he's A-OK now in set 2
