He has a losing record against Murray and Rafa and narrow lead on Djoker. In fairness, Murray and Rafa established winning leads on Federer when they were young and he was at the top of his game. It's more recently he's narrowed the gap on Andy...

It was 1-1 going into 2008 with Murray. It has barely narrowed since 2008 because it has always been back and forth. But look at the big matches where Murray just started winning in the middle of his prime with Roger on his death bed..

Ah poor Roger! If I'd known he was on his death bed I'd have sent him some...er...nothing! :lolz:

I still fancy Roger against Andy at the highest level. He wasn't far off beating him in Oz, only he was knackered by the fifth. But Andy's old problems with aggressiveness resurfaced in that match.

By the way, Andy is on the Graham Norton show next weekend! :snigger

Ah man, he better watch his back! :laydownlaughing

I watch that now and again, I prefer Graham to that tosser Jonathan Ross, but he blew it last week when he had Robert de Niro on - and was so nervous he spent more time grilling Jennifer Saunders! :lolz:

Yeah Jonathan Woss is a clown alright. He's getting some big names on there. Pity De Niro releases nothing but dog poop for the last few years though.

In tennis terms he is..just look at his ranking and who he lost to at slams this year. His head to heads will get a lot more ugly from here on out, though I suspect he hangs it up after next year.

Yeah, Federer will end his career with the worst h2h of any great player against his supposedly inferior rivals...

It's what happens when you stick around 5 years after your prime. You'd be foolish to think all 3 of Nadal, Nole and Murray won't have the same thing happen if they are around at Rogers age. When it comes to the ones that count Roger is still ahead of Murray and Nole anyways and he is half as good now...

How does Broken say it?

It happens with all the greats who choose to stick around.

Once again, these guys are a younger generation, and they're all phenomenal players, so I don't see why they shouldn't have a close H2H with Federer. Roger's only h2h worth discussing vis-a-vis Nadal/Djokovic/Murray is the one against Nadal. Against the other two, he's more than held his own. The fact that he still possesses a superior H2H against Novak is actually quite a feat, since they've played a LOT since 2011, after Novak became consistently great and Roger reached his 30's. Against Murray, he's generally had the better of him when it mattered most, up until last year, so I doubt Roger is losing sleep over that H2H record.

They're professionals - they should be banned if they tank.

:lolz:

There would be a lot of professionals banned from tennis over the years.
(not saying that it's okay or that I even like the idea, just that it's been happening for some time now)

I agree, and the umpire called players on it before. I think they should be banned. But it's almost impossible to prove. I certainly don't think fans should be rooting for their players to cheat. What about the paying fans?

Yet, the second most popular player is the one who is very keen on collecting low level tournament appearance fees. What are the paying fans? Those who buy tickets?
in regards to your signature, Mastoor
If Agassi made that dumb as# quotes he is back hanging out with Slim and da boys in Vegas.

All this talk about tanking. :nono

Rafa tanked, Tipsy should tank a DC match to help Nole, Nole should tank a match against DP. Is this gonna be the new thing we cheer? "Yeah, Rafa didn't win, he tanked, so we congratulate him first - then his fans, of course - and then his opponent for being so naive as to actually win. And by the way, did you see Nole's tank? Such an obvious one!"

It's getting a bit silly. They're professionals - they should be banned if they tank. People don't pay good money to watch brats throw tennis matches...

EDIT: And fans shouldn't want their player to tank! It's tantamount to encouraging them to cheat. Stand up for the paying fans who want to see competitive matches!

Kieran, I like your ideas that are very advanced for a fan of the player who tanked 7 months of his career.

I don't think anyone "tanks" at this level, and I'm a bit weary of the mention of it. Mastoor, Nadal didn't tank 7 months of his career. You are so obvious when you disappear every time your man does poorly, then drop in to insult…well, mainly Nadal. Thump your chest today, but I challenge you to stay around and actually discuss tennis when it's not all Novak all the time.

Well, Tipsy has two options, he can tank the match or lose the match.
Given a choice, which one do you think he would prefer.

I never look at h2hs, just slam h2hs. Apart from the one-off (1-0) meetings which are sometimes considered an 'upset', the slam h2hs are very telling.
Nadal leads Federer 8-2.
Nadal leads Djokovic 8-3.
Nadal leads Murray 6-2.
Nadal leads Soderling 5-1.

I think he'd prefer to win. Davis Cup is on the line, right? ;)

Let's go! Today DP steals a march, surely, with a straight sets hammering of Gasquet, right? And Waw puts a beat on Berdy. That one could be tight, but I fancy Wawrinka to start strongly here and the Birdman to be left sitting on his perch...

I bet Gasquet upsets someone in the group.

I'm hard-pressed to see who, being honest with you. He seems like a lightweight boxer in the heavyweight division...

Stan has a legit chance to be the #2 player out of that group or at least make things interesting. I can't see Gasquet having any prayer here but if he causes 1 upset (ie beats DP or Fed) then their chances plummet big time.
