I was kidding. Might be a bit premature to worry about the resting time before fed has played a single match. He's got a tough group. Yeah not 'great' players in your book, but Murray and kei will not be easy.

In theory they should be, but I will wait to see how Roger shows up first. He should be motivated to end the season well after not having much to show for his play so far.

He was able to manage a couple Masters wins; that ain't "something" to show for his play? :nono  :dodgy:

Nothing of huge importance. Certainly nothing that boosts his impressive resume since that's a record he won't be getting. Slams and YEC's are the main things that can boost it, and if he has the chance to get #1 that'd be a huge deal obviously. MS events are big confidence building wins and come with good points but as of now I'd say his main achievement this year is getting the #2 rank.

Poor Nole lovers have to be a little nervous in light of Steve's accuracy record this year. A grand event it should turn out to be when all is said and done.

No more so than any other time Nole's serving for a match! My prediction is that Federer won't make the final, much less "win it!" :dodgy:

Let me put in a specific prediction. Novak will not win all the three RR matches.
In particular, I think Cilic might win against Novak, if he does not have injury issues,
with the new found confidence.

This is not a wishful thinking prediction. If you have seen recent matches
between Cilic and Novak, you might have noticed that Cilic is closing the gap on Novak,
so to speak. In RG they went to four sets and in Wimby, it they went to 5 sets (although
Cilic lost the last two meekly).

More than these two matches, the one that really impressed me was Cilic's first
set against Novak in IW this year. Cilic was in a zone and hitting the lines with
powerful shots. But, then he could not sustain it, partly due to his lack of self belief.
Now, that he is a GS champion when in that kind of situation he might bring more heat
on instead of folding.

With the draw held on Monday itself and with as many as five intervening days, ATP
ran out of good ideas on how to hype the event.

Let me give them a suggestion. First don't do the draw completely on Monday itself.
Monday, simply announce the two group leaders and which group will play first.

Tuesday, draw the 3 and 4 seeds.

Wednesday, draw the 5 and 6 seeds.

Thursday, draw the 7 and 8 seeds.

Friday and Saturday --- do the final hyping.

This way, they will have something talk about every day and run the hype machine in full speed.

I just can't think back far enough to remember when this tournament mattered and was that historic! Federer will probably hold the records concerning the event, but after Borg or Lendl v McEnroe, it just hasn't been "must see" tv; Grand Slam Cup creation really hurt them! :s :dodgy:

For the record, I fully endorse the following picks originally made by ftan in the other thread.

SF1: Federer vs Cilic
SF2: Djokovic vs Murray

Final: Federer vs Murray

Winner: Federer

Milos barely made it; he is not going to have success right in his first attempt and that
too from a group which has two members of erstwhile Big 4.

Kei will eventually succeed, but his body is not yet cooperating. He could not even
give a decent fight to Novak in the SF at Bercy, due to physical issues (as opposed to
inability to bring on tennis).

Berdych is such a character, the way he talks about the top guys too sometimes makes me think he is as much of a fan as a top player himself. He seems like a really nice guy.

I would imagine you know what their h2h is.

And I also gather you've checked to see what Cilic has done since USO:

So, if it isn't wishful thinking, I will give you credit for making a very bold prediction.

We'll soon see whether Tignor is wrong 100% of the time. I am starting to feel badly for the guy and hope (for once), he does get it right here. :snigger

Cilic may have something in reserve, but it's unlikely he has that much kept in reserve. But still, to give him credit, he was a different animal at Flushing Meadows and if he remembers some of that, the H2H maybe become rapidly insignificant.

But yeah, it's a tall ask. Nole is usually good in these matches...
