Besides, if there is one major where she has been consistent for the past few years, it has been the US Open: 2008 Champion, 2009 Semi-Finalist, 2011 Finalist, 2012 Champion, 2013 Champion. I have good faith she will bring it this Open and put in a good appearance. We all know how she likes to prove the naysayers wrong. Good news for Serena, and bad news for everyone else is because of her results this year, she can always improve them next year.

Garbine did improve on winning percentage on her serve....but only to 27% in the 2nd set??

Kerber in a rout wins 62 61.

That scoreline surprised me. I expected Garbine to challenge Kerber.

Can't wait for the later matches today. Hoping Petko can keep her fantastic 2014 season strong heading into hardcourts with a big win tonight, and Ana/Serena is promising. Their match in Australia was fantastic.

Garbine played a poor match, credit to how well Angie was playing, she forced Garbine into losing patience and making too many ufe.

Due to defeat of Vika in the match,Ana Ivanovic will move back into the Top 10,after 5 long years.

It was a mistake to drop her coach. Ana was doing well this year and the top 10 belongs to her former coach. Too greedy. She beat Serena and Sugarbabe this year already and won 3 events, why change the coach?

Anyway these minor events are nothing without storm Simona and she is due to land on Cinci soon. Get ready! ;)
and... Simo looks good now with that classy adidas new outfit :)
and... Simo needs to stop being nice for the protocol. I want Simo to start trashing the western media and put that media in her place. But she is too smart to do what I would have done in her place.

rant over

Apparently their split was amicable according to what I have read.I don't think Ana is greedy....:)

Dejan Petrovic,Ana's new coach has a tennis academy in Serbia. He was Djokovic's first touring coach in 2004,worked with Jankovic a year later.

Before we pass judgement on Ana's new coach, lets wait and see Ana's results for the rest of the year, though sometimes in a new partnership it does take time to gel.

I look forward to 'storm Simona landing in Cinncy'...........

And Andrea breaks to take the match.

2nd big match in a row that Venus has lost 7-5 in the third on her own serve. Could she be developing a case of the yips late in her career?

It always pains me to see Venus lose out after her illness given all the talent she has. Today was no exception.

The winner of Serena and Ana is in a very good position in this tournament now. I'm hoping Ana can repeat her Australian win and go on to win the tournament but if not I'm more than happy to see Serena get back on track with a title this week. Whoever wins that match has my backing for the weekend...

Just tuned in. Serena grabs the early break in the decider 2-0. Ana's movement is hampered, but that's not stopping her from drilling the ball. In fact, she's probably going for even more in an attempt to end points quickly.

Seriously, what is with all of Serena's double faults this year? I mean she must have served more double faults this year than I have seen her serve in her entire career before this year.
