3 straight sets wins so far for GOATdal.

I never enjoy the Fognini meetings because he's very unpredictable and is dangerous. But I also don't like him because he acts like a complete fool. :negative:

Hopefully it won't be a complicated match for GOATdal. :good:

I'm also glad that his back is starting to feel fine. :good:

And finally, GO RAONIC! You might finally beat Djokovic! :good:

So why might he finally beat him ? Have you come to your senses that Djokovic might actually be injured?!

Djokovic even before the Fritz match went 4 sets vs Tiafoe. He also went to the limits vs Zverev at the Atp Cup. And let's not forget the end of last year with many losses. He’s very beatable right now injury or no injury.

Amazed to see Fognini doing so well here and gutted that with work I'll miss the match against Nadal as that should be a good one. Not sure how fit Fognini is right now but Nadal must be a bit worried.
I'm sure he is...and so am I. Fog hasn't beaten Rafa a lot, but he's spoiled a few important things for him.
When Fognini is in the zone, he is an absolute joy to watch. He makes winners from all angles and he makes it look like it is the easiest thing in the world. I agree that Nadal should be worried, I don't think Fognini will bend over this time. This is Monte Carlo level of play and when he plays like that he can be very difficult to beat.
It's true, when he's on. i don't think it's ever about bending over though. Fognini doesn't really seem to have much control over when he plays in the zone, and when his head explodes and his game implodes.

Same as Nadal he hasn't played anyone even remotely good yet and neither of them are 100% so you can't gauge anything from current performance and doing so is pointless as they never try their hardest against poor players who will beat themselves. They need the energy for the harder matches.

Djokovic struggling on hardcourt at the end of last year with many losses and now in Australia is not the same thing because hardcourt is his favorite surface. When GOATdal struggles like that on clay then you would have a point. GOATdal won RG in straight sets, Djokovic at the AO already went 4 sets vs Tiafoe and 5 sets vs Fritz. To be continued.

He injured himself against Fritz. What part of that do you have trouble with ?

I actually think this will be a good test for Nadal in terms of raising up his level especially from the baseline. If Nadal can win this in three or four competitive sets (~2 to 2.5 hours), then it will bode him well for latter stages of the tournament (Tsitsipas, Medvedev/Rublev and Djokovic/Thiem).

He needs to be ultra aggressive though like he did in the 1st 2 matches of the tournament.

FAA takes the first set 6-3 over the qualifier Karatsev. This will be a huge confidence booster for FAA if he can win this match and reach his 1st ever Slam QF!

This is what Margaret is alluding to...what strikes me is that they still don’t know the scan results. At this point, they will just go how he feels...

I cannot understand that they dont have the scan results back yet? Usually with this type of scan you can wait or get the results in 1/2 hour.....

Sigh. With FAA despite his talent/skills Felix rarely seems to "impose" himself in a match, if that makes sense.

That 5th game of the first set of the Theim/Dimitrov match set men's tennis back a decade. That was so painful to watch and both players "contributed".

And meanwhile... The RAFA heckler identified as Lisa has spoken out about her behaviour and while some of what she says re Nadal makes sense. I too am not a fan and am easily bored by his stalling in between service points. But that's certainly not to condone her behaviour. Plus she looked like she had too much to drink and was disrespectful to the other spectators in not wearing her mask and screaming out loud which potentially can infect other fans nearby with this virus.

Rafael Nadal's heckler delivers astounding radio interview

The spectator last night ejected from Rod Laver Arena for heckling Rafael Nadal has defended her behaviour in a staggering radio interview.

During the second set of Nadal's second-round win over Michael Mmoh, a woman in the crowd halted play when she began yelling insults at the 20-time Grand Slam champion, giving him the middle finger and screaming "hurry up, you OCD f--k", before security escorted her from the venue.

The unidentified woman, whose alias is 'Lisa', said in an interview with 3AW's Neil Mitchell that she was baffled at the enormous amount of attention she had received.

"I'm certainly not a fan of Nadal," 'Lisa' said.

"I think he's incredibly boring and he goes through all those OCD rituals all the time.

"The only reason I happened to be at the match is because I wanted a ticket to see the previous female match between Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina and I stuck around to watch the boring Nadal.

"The very fact that apparently pictures of me have gone viral, even around the world, reflects on how incredibly boring his matches are, because why would you want to focus on a spectator?"

'Lisa', who said her daughter "wasn't too happy" with her behaviour, accused security of mistreating her.

"They said, 'Right you have to go' – and I said: 'Why? I'm a spectator, I've paid for my ticket, why aren't I allowed to be a bit vocal?" she said.

"I mean I was vocal in the previous match calling out for Svitolina, because she's one of my faves.

"The other thing is I am a tennis aficionado. I come down to Melbourne (from Sydney) each year, especially for the tennis. I'm so glad that it was held this year."

When asked post-match whether he knew the woman, Nadal said: "No - and honestly, I don't want to know (her)."

The superstar Spaniard also suggested 'Lisa' may have overindulged on gin or tequila.

The woman addressed her potential intoxication in the 3AW interview, saying she had had "one glass of bubbly" and conceding that she had "possibly" been impacted by alcohol.

The woman also revealed she had tickets to both Friday's and Saturday's matches.

"I might need to go in disguise – and I certainly won't be wearing the outfit I wore," 'Lisa' said.

"I'll be keeping very quiet."

Why did she bother going to a Nadal match if she dosent like his style of play to begin with? also I blame the officials on the door maybe she was a bit drunk before she came into the Arena, quite frankly she should be barred from attending any more matches
