Yikes! Millman lost both of his service points on routine forehand misses!

Man, Millman just got super tight especially at 8-4...credit to Federer he dug deep and use his championship experience to win that match.

Holy mess. That's just ..... what a match. Fed just getting lucky honestly. That's how it feels. He played tough the whole match though. A heart breaker for Millman. 6 straight points for Fed. Just inches out alive. My goodness.

A five set win over a guy who has never been ranked inside the top 20 does not bode well for the rest of the tournament. But. It's a win. He's alive. He could fail to recover well enough to beat Fucsovics. Or he could come out and beat the snot out of Fucsovics.

Wow. Just wow.

The question moving forward is how well is he gonna recover from this match physically and mentally. The draw is nice to him until the semifinals but even then he is not automatic anymore.

I'd normally agree, but Millman didn't play to his ranking. He read Federer like a book and maintained a high level throughout. All these guys can redline dude... but most can't do it over a sustained period... Millman did IMO. Roger wasn't lucky, he hung tough.

I think he will win but in like 4 sets. He will be good enough to beat Fucsovics but tired enough to lose a set.

My goodness. Federer looks incredibly exhausted. His face just looks like he's been through so much tonight. And he has.

Yeah of course. He definitely played above his current 47th ranking. But he had the belief having already beaten Fed. But I think having Lleyton in his corner is what was the big difference tonight. Lleyton's been working with him. Helped him with the game plan. Had to have. There's no way Millman kept out playing Fed without the help of someone like Lleyton who's played Fed 15 time or so and has won at a high level.

Fed didn't have his best. But he came out alive. Definitely hung tough. I'd say he still got more than a little lucky there though. Especially at the end.

Tennis dot com said the three matches of the day to watch were the US Open rematches. Serena v Wang, Osaka v Gauff and Federer v Millman. All three of the people who lost those matches won today. Millman almost spoiled that. But all three turned it around and won the rematch.

Pretty sensational day of tennis all around.

Very true. I also heard that they do practice together sometimes, so Millman knows Federer’s game. Roger looked like he was done for. It has become excruciating for his fans to watch him. The end is nigh.

Mr Vavrinec's fans must be relieved...this Millman's really dangerous, don't know if the old dad's happy about his today's performance

Very true. I am relieved that he won because winning is always good. He is not playing well, so do not worry. Mr Vavrinec is not winning the Australian Open.

Mr Vavrinec is not likely winning any more majors. But we can still savor matches like this while he's on the tour. There will be a big Vaccum when he hangs it up.

I saw the first three sets but had to go to the airport after that. My internet was not good enough to have a stream running so I was following the match here , instead of some scores page. It is super fun to follow it here when people are posting and I was about to say a big thank you to everyone, but...

YOU JUST STOPPED POSTING FOR MOST OF THE SUPER TIE-BREAK! I CURSED ALL YOUR FAMILIES FOR A 100 YEARS!

After someone finally posted something meaningful at 4-8, luckily I passed by someone who I think was listening to it on the radio, as he said to himself "wow, 5 straight points!".

That was the weirdest way to follow a match, but it was fun. Now just 43 more hours and I will be home.
