I know one thing over the years Tsonga does not do so bad @ the AO.If Jo & Roger play could be a great match up.

Yeah I agree, it would definitely be the most interesting 4th round if it happens.

Btw, I don't think its a certain that Tsonga will win, but at this point I do favour him over the Fedster.

I would not like to call who wins,i've just gone for Fed in my picks v other boards. Here is jo in Slams.

His serve.

Tsonga was injured for a big part of last year.

So was Federer...

He didn't miss much though. Tsonga didnt play the US Open swing and Asia swing.

They both played 17 tournaments each according to the ATP site and Tsonga played Davis Cup on top of that.

Oh boy, this is endless. But we're getting somewhere. A lot of the tourney's Jo played were 250 events. He did not play the US Open, Canada, and Cincinnati. You can generally get more points there. This is not bad scheduling, he was just injured. Fed took a break at a time where there were not much points on the line.

Anyway, thanks for clarifying that you were actually talking about their chances h2h. I like Jo's, you like Feds. It's cooling down now, so that will help the Fedster in having some more time to return the ball, but I think he'll have difficulty with Jo's serve. And I am sure Federer will be so kind to shank away a couple of serve games, to enable Jo-Willie to take three sets.

Federer missed more 1000s than Tsonga buddy (Monte Carlo, Miami and Canada). Tsonga missed Canada and Cincy. Sure, Jo missed the USO but he's only been beyond the fourth round once in his entire career. Unless you are absolutely convinced that Tsonga would have made the final then he'd always have ended up with less points than Federer... thus Fed had a better year than Tsonga in the cold light of day (playing his worst tennis in a decade)... Like I say, take the names out of it and look at the cold facts.

Anyway, let's see how it pans out. The point was I don't see this as the foregone conclusion many others do. It's a pick em' and I prefer Federer of the two.

Done.

If anyone else needs the password for the tourneytopia then PM me, tented or moxie629. It's too late to join the AO predictions but you'll be ready for next time.

Agreed, no foregone conclusion, but I doubt anyone was arguing that.

the quality of tennis should improve in the non-silly temperatures from now on, hopefully.

Pretty good stuff from Roger, much better than the 1st match. His opponent doesn't have much of a serve yet I like that Roger has been pretty aggressive with the return. He can't be aggressive off the big 1st serves at this point but no reason he can't/shouldn't go after the 2nd serve returns.

Come to find out, there seems to be a new feature where I can allow late entries (as the administrator.) May not be worth it for the penalties, but it puts you in the pool for the whole year. PM me, Sid or anyone, if you want to still get in.

Federer giving a masterclass on winning the big points at the right time...a 6-2 set that seemed closer than that.

Did anybody notice this guy Stephan Robert? He got in as a lucky loser as
Philip Kohlschrbrier got injured. He is now playing in the third round and is two sets
up and looks like he will make it to the second week. He is just a game away.

Gab Ush Veeli is odd duck. I have seen him play many times I once saw him get into a shouting match with Fernando Gonzalez at the Us Open. In Spanish!

Then I saw Michael Llorda yell at him for questioning calls.

He is resilient however...on and off the challenger tour.

Unless Gabush can come off with something different than the very original strategy of playing the GOAT's backhand non stop, it's three and a shower.

I don't like him..everytime he loses a point he is flouncing about and huffing like some sort of dreary :chillout: drama queen.
