In a few minutes, Rafa and Roger will be out on court playing in Aussie Open, hence on different courts.

I was just about to post saying we have a Fedal second round match and you beat me to it.

GSM: You like a trivia question. Any idea the last time they played at the same time, if ever?

I am not sure. This is probably the first time when both Fed and Nadal won the
first set (and that too by the same score of 6-2) when playing simultaneously.

Fed is playing much much better than in his first match. I am pleased.

Apparently, this is the first time since 2004 Jan. 22nd that Roger is playing
in Hisense Arena.

Let me just mention, and without rancor, that, in the US, ESPN has been showing the Federer match, and I'm relegated to watching Nadal on the internet stream. I say this for all the Djokovic fans out there who feel they get short-shrift. Point is, the hierarchy remains consistent: Federer, then Nadal, Djokovic and everyone else.

Agreed. But it's like they're ignoring that they have an extreme heat issue. They're simply pretending as if it doesn't exist. Broken, what do you think about my idea of moving the AO to the end of their summer? Their heat issues are not going to change.

Too many complications. What becomes of the US Open then? There's just too many things to work around, especially with the ATP not being the governing body behind the slams. I'm sure there are less complicated solutions, including suspending play and closing the roof.

How does it affect the USO? That's already at the end of our summer. You could slide the Asian tournaments into the front of the year, before the AO, and play them like tune-ups, as per usual. Might even give a longer off-season.

I misread.

"At the end of THEIR summer." I read it "at the end of THE summer" for some reason (ie OUR summer).

I wonder what makes people misread when it is spelt in the post itself.

Not sure. Probably because of all those times I actually wish I misread a post due to its content.

this is class from Federer..eveb if it is only 2nd rd.

Fed had two back to back ROS winners. It is long time I saw that from him.

Nada's sliced serves are working well on both sides of the court. The ball definitely seems to be skidding off the courts a little more.

It's easy to misread, as the antipodean thing gets us all confused. I suggest standing on your head at least once a day during the AO, for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. Kind of like figuring out how to play a lefty. Everything is upside-down/backwards.

No, it depends on the state of the match. Once Fed won the 2nd set, they switched it
to Nadal match on TV and I have to watch Fed on stream now.

Thanasi Kokkinakis has a nice game. If he can gain some muscle and improve his game, he could potentially be a good player in the future. By the way, he is only 17 years old and he could still play juniors this year.

True, but Federer will still produce the most ratings so the general point stands.

Nadal being a bit sloppy this set.

Agreed. Actually, I think he's been a bit sloppy all match. Could be serving cleaner, and hitting the lines better.

Nadal probably still hasn't made the adjustments to the surface not playing the way he's accustomed to it.

Kokkonakis has no answer for Nadal's slider out wide. The point is over the moment Nadal puts that serve in.

We will see if he will make adjustments in the 3rd round potentially facing Gael Monfils.

Rafa has to get his backhand rhythm going for the Monfils match, otherwise it could get very difficult.

Yeah I expect that match to be less straightforward than we think. I don't think Nadal's rally forehand is looking great. If he picks his level up he dusts off Monfils routinely though.
