Hope Rafa wins in 3, don't want to play long in this heat.

Rod Laver Arena is possibly Blow Out Arena today. I cannot seem to find a
single semi-competitive match there.

3 is probably the amount of games his opponent will be taking.

Haven't watched him before so no idea how his serve is but it's quite possible with a good serve a few games can be won. Hardly be a triple bagel. Might be 6-3 6-2 6-2 or something like that.

I would normally say that Rafa would be looking for a decent hit-around. However, it's hot out there. He may look to get out as quickly as possible.

D.Young takes the first set from Seppi. He is actually able to be quite an entertaining player. His backhand seems much improved, plus his hat is much less askew... all to the better.

wot you mean the Donald has stopped wearing his hat at a jaunty angle ?,

finally he has seen the error of his dismal sartorial ways.

Knapp is making an effort.

Young and the word "improved" has not been uttered in the same sentence, or even the same book in the last while. So it is a good thing.

Murray questions, as do I, why the women get a heat time-out, and the men don't?

Please use this thread to discuss Day 4 action.

I've added TV schedules for live coverage in the US, Canada, the UK, continental Europe, and Australia.

Geez, the hardest match to call is the Simon Cilic match. I would give an edge to Cilic due to simons epic first round battle..but I know Simon can exploit the slappy Cilic forehand.

For real? That is the rule? Equal pay, huh...

I argue all the time for equal pay, for example, but I don't understand who decided that the "dainty" women need a 10-minute break between sets 2-3, whereas for the men, there is none, and they can play up to 5 sets. WTF?? They were even denying the men water during long games. There is something very wrong about how they're handling this extreme heat situation, on so many levels.

It's so weird the way the AO is handling everything. Usually, it's the tournament with the least amount of controversy (with the exception of that one time they scheduled Hewitt to be last on court and he finished his match at like 4 am). Everything tends to go smoothly. It's been quite uncharacteristic this year.

Agreed. But it's like they're ignoring that they have an extreme heat issue. They're simply pretending as if it doesn't exist. Broken, what do you think about my idea of moving the AO to the end of their summer? Their heat issues are not going to change.

Your wish has been granted Mox. They are closing the roof on MCA and they have suspended play on the outer courts when a set is completed.

My only wish is to see common sense to prevail. There's no reason to compromise the players' health.
