And Venus Williams bites the dust and makes me a nice €1200. Thank you, Venus. Sucks all the same for her and her fans.

Was she the favorite to win???? Makes no sense...but good score for you.

Yeah but I had a feeling she'd lose. Had €200 down as a double with her to lose and Flipkens to beat Laura Robson. Didn't realize Robson had a wrist injury but figured she'd lose either way. Have a treble at 14-1 with €200 with those two plus Stosur to lose later today too. And she may well do. Even if I lose €200 there I'm up €1,000. But if she loses it's a huge first day.

'Cos the bookies are clueless  I remember UK bookies had Henman 1-10 favourite against nobodies in his final years and I used always stick €500 on opponents to win at 11-2 and 9-4. Odds like that. Henman made me a fortune :D

Front, you are my guru from now on...Teach me the ways of the betting world.

It's a dangerous thing to get into. Nice if you win but nasty if you go overboard. I hadn't bet anything since this time last year actually so I'm happy.

Haas v Garcia Lopez could be good but I can't see myself staying up another 2 ours till 5:30am before it even starts. Hope if Haas wins it's not another of his customary 5 setters.

It's not 2007, but it was a completely winnable match.

True but how many of her matches are like that these days. I know it was looking like she might win it after that fantastic first set but she was killing herself out there putting so much effort into every point you knew it couldn't last forever and it didn't. In fact she appeared to be limping every so slightly walking off to my eyes. I'd imagine even if she won today she'd have lost the next match anyway.

Alot of her matches look similar to that. But it was winnable in the 2nd and 3rd sets until it wasn't. So enough about that. I'm moving on to the men for awhile.
