Line hawk eye technology can still miss by a good mark. Ball called in on the baseline just below Osaka's legs and after the replay you can clearly see it was out for at least a few centimeters. Osaka complained, but the call stands.

Osaka will have a harder match in round 2 where she will face Karolina Muchova, who leads in their H2H, Muchova is one of the most talented players on the tour, injuries have kept her out of the tour for long periods of time.
BTW Muchova won the last time she met Osaka in the 2nd round of a major

I dont think Elena Rybakina will have much trouble with the young 16 yo, Aussie WC Emerson Jones, who has been compared to Ash Barty, I wish people would stop with the Hype and Comparison, let her have her own career :)
Hopefully Elena can put all the drama that surrounds her with wanting her previous coach Vukov to rejoin her, and concentrate on herself at the 2025 AO

Emma Raducanu comes into the AO with no match play, as she withdrew from a pre AO tournament stating she wasnt 100% healthy, she will be tested by her opponent Alexandrova the 26th seed.

Emma Navarro (8) didnt have happy pre tournaments before the AO, going out early, she faces another American Stearns in her first round match, hopefully she can get back on track.

Emma in trouble. Her lack of consistency and confidence is a glaring yellow neon sign (like her dress). Peyton is 3 pts from the match

No 13 seed Anna Kalinskaya withdrew from the AO last minute
Replaced by LL Eva Lys, already on court
Kalinskaya was defending QFs and will drop in the rankings

In a much needed win, No 8 seed Emma Navarro, down a set, battled back to win, 2nd set TB saved 3 MPs, winning 67(7) 76(5) 75 over fellow American Stearns

16 yo Aussie WC Emerson Jones was given a tennis education on MCA from Elena Rybakina, a good learning curve for the youngster going forward in her career.
Impressed with Elena, her serve was just outstanding, her service motion is delightful, and she has one of the best serves on tour, and is a wonderful pure striker of the ball, so gracious to watch.
Well done Elena 61 61.
EDIT,
Elena's said after the match, she still talks to Vukov regarding matches, even though he is under investigation from the WTA, and isnt allowed accreditation, until the investigation is over, she has come out and defended him and said he has not abused her.

Probably the pick of the ladies matches is Muchova (20) vs Naomi Osaka
I am predicting a Muchova win.
Top seeds should go through 'Unscathed"
Sabalenka (1), Pegula (7), Zheng (5) Gauff (3) Shnaider (12) Badosa (11) Andreeva (14)
Clara Tauson should not have trouble in her match against T.Maria.
