A reminder that if Carlos Alcaraz wins the AO in 2026 or 2027, he will still become the youngest man ever to complete Career Grand Slam. ( I previously posted 2026) Two more chances!

Great interview with Ben Shelton adressing the awfull oncourt interviews with the players. Maybe I will begin to like him..

Thanks for posting.. Well said by Ben ! Nine network, should replace Tony Jones with Todd Woodbridge (said as much 2-3 days ago).

Yes, those on-court interviews have become unnecessarily mandatory and this has been the norm at the AO for best part of 20 years. Why can't the winners be given the choice on whether they want to be interviewed or not ?

That's the covenant celebrities make that goes w/ fame & fortune! They're expected to be available for interviews even if withholding or lying! :astonished-face:

Zverev had 4 BPs on Novak's serve, all were 2nd serves and he could not break, back to his passive self and not being proactive on his fhand as well, same old Zverev

OMG Novak retired just after he lost the 1st set in the TB? 76(5)
Zverev through to the final 76(5)
Actually it was a wise decision having a groin injury and you dont rest and have the right rehab it can be hard to heal

I was rooting for Zverev, but feel bad for Novak. He knows his body so if he's pulling out then he must be really hurting.
You could tell Novak was very subdued and his moving at times was limited, he did the right thing, if you dont heal a groin injury properly it can go on for months

Sasha is begining to believe what? lol! he won win the final playing like he did quite frankly
Well, I know (I was just kidding around). And really, this doesn't really build confidence going into the final. I don't think he stands much of a chance against Sinner, unless Jannik suffers from one of his periodic ailments. But I suppose he could believe that the Tennis Gods will finally shine on him and gets to face Shelton. Somehow.

Oh well lets see who he faces in the final, agree he would have more of a chance to win against Ben.

well i believe Djokovic a ten-time AO champion, should have continued on playing.

He admitted in his presser that if he'd won the set he would have continued with the match today. He was willing to risk the groin if he won the first set. No wonder some sections of the crowd booed.

Novak's presser:

Legends STUNNED by Novak Djokovic's Semifinal retirement and crowd reaction

I'm shocked and embarrassed for Aussies behaving so disrespectfully of a 10 X champion who won a rec. 3 titles str. TWICE! Why Booo a retirement?? It's becoming common place these days; even w/ kids almost half his age! When it comes to the mass disrespect on display, even at Wimbledon where classless fans "over-supported" Fed over Djokovic back in 2019! Be a fan; why become an arena of collective jerks "down under?" I won't miss watching much after he retires! People lamented Roger retiring & cautioned wishing him gone! The same can & should be said of Djokovic who BEAT Alcaraz in the QF! He's not done! Recovery is another thing!:face-vomiting::sneezing-face::face-with-head-bandage:
