Well that's an extreme exaggeration as Dimitrov has been an Int'l star on & off the court for well over a decade! He took a Masters & YEC in '17! :)
Yeah but in terms of a prediction for a player who was fancied and is now rapidly receding, it might be right. FAA just doesn’t have the nuts to bury top players at the highest level. Kind of like Dimi. It’s not beyond the realms that Felix sends up false signals of fulfilling his potential in the same ways as Grigor did, too..

By the way, has Novak mentioned his wrist hamstring or whatever yet?

Yes he has mentioned his wrist the other day, and was seen massaging his wrist in the gym, which caused alarm from the commentators :) dont worry if he does have to have a MRI he will have Craig Tiley to read the results for us all like last year when he had a tear/ or strain in his leg.

Why did it cause alarm? Did he show any sign of hurt or harm in a match?

No of course not, btw he has a cold.
So where’s the injury? If your wrist is injured, it shows when you play tennis, just like a hamstring injury shows. If it doesn’t show..

A cold? Are you sure it’s not covid… :lol6:

His wrist problem flared up when he was playing in the United Cup
Well regarding the cold there has been a new strain of COVID in Melbourne :)

Really, you believe these things?
In 2021 he apparently got a ab tear in one of his matches, and battled quite frankly I cant believe that, I mean how does a player serve for starters with a ab tear? there is no medical fix except rest, I will probably be classed as a 'hater' now lol! I suppose you could have a ab strain and play on, dosent make sense to me even with an ab strain,

Nor can you play at that level with a hamstring injury. Doing the splits and tantric positions of putting his ankles behind his own ears. That was some feat!

I think he has been smothered by expectations. The comparisons to Federer have fatally cemented themselves in Grigor’s head. If you watch his early matches, in the juniors, you can see all of the potential. It was right there.
This is certainly part of it, but I think you're being kind to Dimitrov. Federer himself was saddled early with the weight of expectation, early on, but he came good. OK, Roger had basically no one in front of him, while Grigor had all of the big 3/4. But he could have inserted himself more in the conversation. Or even make more of himself now. He's "only" 32, and Mannarino's still in. I think some lack of ambition was in there, too. That, expectations, distractions, who knows? We've had threads before on squandered talent. He'll be on/near the top of my list for the next one.

Another point with Dimitrov over the years, he seems to find new ways to lose in tournaments :)

I only watched a bit of the match with Borges. Borges played great, but it was a surprising upset. Shout out to the great Argentinian writer, Jorge Luís Borges, who wrote a poem about chess. I think we all know that chess is a great game for tennis players. I love tennis players with literary names. Does anyone else remember Iñigo Cervantes? He featured for about 5 minutes. Great name.

BTW I hope Lleyton Hewitt is a commentator on Novak's match he is straight to the point and does not '[over talk. his son Cruz is playing in the junior boys today. though I bet we will get Jim Courier and I bet Nick K will also be around he has become one of Novaks best friends of late :)
