Look away Moxie!

Elise Mertens #26 defeats 2020 R/U and former No 1 Garbine Murguza, now ranked #73, 36 76(3) 61
Murguza now 0-3 in 2023, served for the match in 2 of those matches, lost her last 8 deciding sets, tough to watch !
Murguza will leave the Top 80 after the AO

Heat policy for the WTA will now come into play at 2.00pm, women singles players can take a 10min break between the 2nd and 3rd set.
Outside courts play has now suspended air heat is 35c
The 3 stadiums with roofs will be closing, to allow the A/C, which takes about 10 mins to close

:anxious-face-with-sweat::facepalm: So sad to see. More than promising. (2 Majors?) Now cannot get out of her own way, like, ever.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like Coco has put on some muscle especially in her upper body. She doesn't appear as tall and lanky as previously stated. Either it's more muscle or maybe she's growing right before our eyes into full blown womanhood.
I think she is growing into her body.I hope she is not trying to bulk up to beef up her serve.

Muguruza at one time was a contender for these big titles, and now she seems listless and maybe it's time to change her coaching team or become a journeyman.

I am going to watch Ons Jabeur, she has has a lower back injury before the AO started, hopefully that wont be a factor for her, especially for her serve.

She also seems very happy w/ her personal life and her new beau. It's quite possible her priorities have changed and she is not hungry anymore.

Zidansek is serving to force a t/break in the 1st set, Ons is being tested in her 1st rd match, hasnt got her rhythm going as yet in the match and some surprising UFE from her., she seems at times to be rushing her shots.
6 games all t/break for the 1st set.
A very entertaining t/break with both players showing their variety in their games, especially the slice, Zidansek did have 3 sets points but could not convert, Jabeur saved the 3 SPs and went on to win the 1st set 76 (8)

Jabeur d Zidansek 76(8) 46 61

This is a part of Garbine's Murguza's press conference after her loss to Elise Mertens

"I will have to make a proper calendar with my ranking.I'll try to play the best tournaments too but when I can't I'll look at other lesser ones.I will value lower category tournaments. It's time to be humble".

Coco Gauff v E. Raducanu R2 match is on RLA tonight at 7pm local time
I favor Coco in this match, at this stage, I feel she will be too strong for Emma.

Another match up is Danielle Collins vs Karolina Muchova

Interesting match up, both players, are poles apart in their over all games, Muchova has a good variety of shot making skills, sad to say her injuries over the years, have cost her, I feel she can be a Top 10 player, when healthy and be able to play on the tour she can be a difficult player to beat.
Collins is more aggressive and in your face and has the ability to take the racquet out of her opponents hands
Muchova made the SFs at the AO in 2021
Collins was R/U to Ash Barty in 2022.
I feel Collins will win.

That's good and all along I was thinking that she is in a relationship with Conchita.

Rain delay, matches suspended expected play around 11.30am local time, hopefully.

Womens seeds eliminated after Round 1,

Badosa No 11 ( withdrew)
Trevisan # 21
Bouzkova # 25
Anisimova # 28
Kanepi # 31
Badosa must make changes in her camp because traveling with a man like that might not be the best idea.He is too involved like he doesn't have a job.

The BF is apparently a 'model'? though I dont know how much work he does, he tags along with her to all tournaments, maybe hiring a new trainer could help, she appears to get injured easily
