Seb Korda had to retire early in the 3rd set with a right wrist issue, had the trainer out earlier in the match
KK wins by retirement 76 (5) 63 30 ( this has been the first retirement of the entire tournament).
KK qualifies to a 2nd straight GS SF he is 13# in the live rankings

Well, that's just too bad, overall.

It is not the result many of us wanted, sad to see someone that has been playing well all tournament like Seb sustain an injury especially in a major, having to retire.

Too bad for Korda.

Looks more and more likely that we see Novak Tsitsipas final. They could then battle for no.1 ranking, Novak for 22nd slam and greek for his 1st.
We’ve seen this final before.

Too be fair, Stefano's grandmother had just passed away prior to the match if I recall correctly. I think this time he will be ready to finish off the great Serbian Slayer.
I didn’t know his grandmother had passed. Again, I liked the improvement Tsi showed during the ATP tour finals. If he and Novak make it to the finals here, I think it will be more competitive. Tsi’s played on the big stage before and should be more settled out there.

So Djokovic fans who asterisk the 2022 AO and US Open, if Djokovic wins this AO, will there be a similar asterisk next to it because World #1 Carlos Alcaraz didn't participate and top seeds Nadal, Ruud, and Medvedev crashed out early?

At least the 2 best players in the world ended up in the finals of the 2022 AO and US Open.

As a fellow Eagles and Djokovic fan, there’s no asterisk next to Oz22. Novak was deported and forbidden to play. He missed half the slams because he chose not to be vaccinated (that’s on him). He lost the points from Wimbledon due to the ATP decision. Had he been vaccinated or been granted a waiver, the likelihood of Nadal winning Oz 22 or Alcaraz finishing #1 would be significantly diminished.

This is a great stat for Tsitsipas at the AO, he has saved 43 of 49 BPs....Jannik I hope you are looking at this stat after your dismal effort of not being able to convert 4/23 BPs when you played him.

In regards to Seb Korda's wrist injury, which forced him to retire, this wrist injury was a flareup from a previous issue in Adelaide when he reached the final, no issues at all in any of his matches since he felt it in a fhand swing in his match against KK. Hopefully it is nothing serious.Seb said he will be seeing a doctor right after his match and figure it out more.

For whatever reason, I did not start out as a Tsitsipas fan. Over time, watching the various train wrecks, sympathetic feelings kicked in and I began cheer him on. Whether or not one of his fans succeeds in garroting Apostlos, I would really like to see him break free and reach his potential.

Well my tennis coach after a match always presented me with my BS stat, he told me this was one of the most important stats in a tennis match, that stat I posted is very good, the only question I have with The Young Greek, is his mental game, remember he was up 2 sets to love at RG against Novak and let that slip away, my question is...is he a better player now mentally, he has a good overall game,it is the mental part I query.

I believe so. I liked the mettle he showed in defeating Medvedev in the tour finals… and he handled a good young player in straights yesterday. Let’s see what he does against Karen.

No chance of an asterisk if he wins AO, but if for some reason Novax doesn't end up winning AO some of his "fans" will no doubt put an asterisk on whoever wins because Novax was "injured"...

I don't want to sound like underestimating the greek, but not sure if his weapons (serve and FH) will be enough to beat Novak on HC in RL arena if they meet. It's the greek's weak areas of the game that are most problematic. He makes too many UEs, has weak BH and ROS, all which Novak knows how to expose it. Tsitsipas hasn't beaten him in a while I think, he is a good match up for Novak. Then there is also a mental aspect which plays a big part too.

Still it is tennis and you never know. Tsitsipas might show in a final playing the best match of his life and then anything can happen. He will surely need to play on extremely high level to hurt Novak here. That means all things clicking for him, serve, FH, BH, minimum UEs. If the greek can sustain that level for the most part, then he has a chance and we get to see a really good close match in the final instead of a one way road.

Quite frankly I think the Young Greek has a better chance on a clay court than a HC to win a GS title, just my opinion
