Moxie,

In regards to Thiem I actually watched the match, he was struggling, especially with his fhand and he had some rib issue, where his serve was also affected. In hindsight I wonder if Thiem had the hand surgery instead of going down the path of rehab and non surgical therapy would his hand/wrist have recovered faster? and with better feelings.I know Don Fabio and I agree that we cannot see Thiem presently getting back to the Top 10, not with this current form

The Heat Rule has now been extended to 5pm local time, it is now 3.30pm
All outside courts play is still suspended
The only matches current are the 3 stadiums that have roofs

This is pathetic form Matteo you are just bashing balls, with no construction of a point or rhythm?
May I remind you, you are trying to defend s/finalist points from last year at the AO?

As far as I can tell, the only way to access this in the US is by subscribing to ESPN+. If you have the ESPN app, you can subscribe through it for $9.99/month (even though the default is to subscribe for a year, so be careful). Yes, it’s only $10, but it’s the principle. I already pay a huge amount of money to Verizon each month. I don’t want to pay more.

If you’re able to cast to a TV, you can do that through the app as well, although I haven’t tried it myself. You’ll need either Google Chromecast or Apple AirPlay to do this.

The match we're missing seems to be Sir Andy vs Matteo! Cam Williams is doing his bit on Channel 9! I guess I can check on the match! :thinking-face:

Murray leads Berrettini 2 sets to love 63 63
Matteo will now have to take the scenic route if he wants to win this 1st round match
Matteo will drop out of the Top 20, if he loses this match, he is defending s/final points from AO 2022
Both players have taken toilet breaks

What has impressed me in Murray's game is his return of serve? he has broken Mattoe's serve both times in both set 1 and set 2
Goodness me Matteo has held serve in his opening service game of the 3rd set
I also like Murray's kit, white tee, with a green vertical stripe, with green shorts, and Lendl is sitting in Lendl's box in a green tee and black shorts,
I must say by the look of Lendl's appearance he appears to be 'enjoying the good life".
Crowd is on Murray's side

I’ve always thought of his ROS as one of his strengths. He can make life very difficult on his opponent’s serve.

A bit of a turn around Matteo breaks with a good ROS and a lovely bhand slice that allowed him to go down the line with his fhand
Still there is a lot of work to do before he can win this 3rd set. He breaks 3-2 3rd set
Muzz not a happy camper at present, he had 2 BPs before and let them slip, chatting to his box.
Berrettini 4-3 3rd set
Matteo will serve for the 3rd set 5-4......Berrettini wins the 3rd set 64
Murray leads 2 sets to one, going to a 4th set

Zverev wakes up and wins the 2nd set 61 and is leading 2-0 3rd set

As much as I root for Murray, I do not want him to win at the expensive of Berrettini. Matteo has had bad injury luck, but has a good future.

Maybe Berrettini can still pull this match off but it did get me thinking…

Theim, Zverev, Berrettini, etc all “younger” but with injuries. My question is will they come ALL the way back. If a good future is playing as a top, say, 50 player, then their chances are there ( though my hope is fading on poor Theim). Getting back to a Major final

They're at different levels of injuries, IMO, but it's a good question. IMO, Thiem is the most unlikely, with now-chronic and worrying injury. Zverev had a bad one, but was already in a bad place in terms of head issues. I see a double-barreled issue with his comeback. Berrettini hasn't had bad injuries, but also had bad luck with Covid. I fear least for him.

Matteo is now running around his bhand? he is now using his brain
Confident hold from Matteo 4 all, 4th set
Excellent service game from Murray 5-4, 4th set
