Where is Andreescu?
Anyone think Emma and Fernandez making the final last year was a fluke?
Sad to see Jabour withdraw. She’s fun to watch. What an improvement in her fitness over this last year.
Analysts are picking Keys to win the title. I’m not quite convinced.
There are no flukes. It was a perfect storm of activity for the teen queens in NY. It could happen again, but I didn't anticipate it repeating this quickly. They still need to learn how to navigate these shark infested waters.

Me and my mama would have to sit down and seriously talk: Really mama, I know you wanted to be creative, but did you have to name me after a weather event? Do you have any idea how much pressure that puts me in?

Well Radukanu is in terminator mode and takes first set 6-0 - seems Stephens is in a wedding mode still - not good

It went from night to day for Stephens play - well it could only get better - so a third set is coming up and then she was back again - Raducanu in the second round

On a fun note; Denmark’s new big hope, Clara Tauson, won her 1R AO match today with the exact same scoreline Caro - Dulko, 1R AO 2011. 6-3 6-4 fun me thinks

Sabalenka I read is working with Aussie Mark Philippousis regarding her serve,it appears she still hasn't received a visa for it:)

Giant Killer Kanepi defeated No 16th seed Kerber 64 63.

One of the matches that caught my eye today, is Belinda Bencic (22) vs Amanda Anismova, who is being coached by Darren Cahill for this tournament, though there is nothing at the present time if this will be a permanent arrangement.Amanda has always shown potential, though she has had a tough couple of years, with her father (coach) died.If anyone can bring the potential out of a player it is Darren Cahill. The winner of this match does not have a easy run, they could face the defending champion Naomi Osaka in their next round.

I don't think it's fair to call it a "fluke." They are talented, but young. It's going to take some seasoning. I saw one guy pick Keys, but that would be a surprising run. Don't forget she was in a final at the USO, and Barty and Osaka could meet early. Still, a lot of things would have to go her way. I'd call her a Dark Horse.

Strong win from Badosa. She looks good. Barty just walked onto court to the roar of such crowd as there can be.

Badosa and Azarenka had easy wins, lets wait till they get tougher opponents, good thing is they are not spending much time on court

Mrs. Monfils pushed to decider, her opponent is getting strapped up now by the trainer so I reckon this one is likely over. Guess I'll watch AP's gal against Count Dracula. Should be entertaining.

It doesn't appear the marriage is helping her at all. Her play and results since have been subpar, while Le Monf is doing much better and winning stuff.

Ash Barty won 61 61 in 52 minutes.
Ash will play Camila Giorgi next, which I feel will be a good test for her, seeing she loves to bash the ball from the baseline
