I have recorded both Ash and Osaka's match will watch later.

You know it is hard enough to win a GS title,to me it is harder to defend it.
I feel mentally Osaka is in a better place, than she was last year.
Osaka needs matches so I hope we will see her playing more this year. She is too good of a player.

I hope Barty wins the title. She’s fun to watch and has a nice personality. My other favorites, Andreescu and Jabour, aren’t here so I’m not watching much.

One match at a time....there still are a couple of players left that could win the title.

I think Serena will retire soon. She has no realistic chance at another major and her biological clock is ticking if she wants a second child

I feel this will be Serena's last year on tour....she can receive WC into French,Wimbledon and USO being former champions at those GS tournaments.

She and Venus will get a WC into any tournament they choose to play. Most tourney directors would be thrilled to have either one of them play.

Just looking at WTA ranking after the AO for some higher seeds

No 39. Andreescu
No 84. Osaka
No 94. Kenin
I never would have thought that Serena Williams will be ranked No244 and Venus Williams will be ranked No461.
Yep. All those points from 2020 and 2021 came off. Naomi did herself no favors taking off the tour last year. She didn't add any points at RG, Wimby, Olympics or the summer HC's. Then she lost almost 4000 points as she didn't defend USO or Aus.

It will be interesting to see if Osaka plays the whole tour this year, otherwise her ranking will suffer big time

Interesting match ups in the bottom half of the draw,

A.Sabalenka (2) vs M.Vondrousova (31)

Sabalenka has hit 70 double faults in her four matches this year, though somehow she has made it to the 3rd rd.
H2H 2 all.

D,Collins (27) vs C.Tausen.

I was impressed with the way Clara defeated Kontaveit, her backhand did most of the damage.Danielle will have her hands full with the teenager.

A.Pavlyuchenkova (10) vs S.Cirstea.
H2H 3 all, but this is their first meeting in more than 3 years.

I.Swiatek (7) vs D.Kasatkina (25)
H2H 1-0 to Kasatkina Eastbourne (grass).

Oh, btw, guess you were not kidding my future wife and mother of my children (in an alternate universe) was bashed by Barty. Not even close, so you were right......again. Embarrassing.
There have been times when Ash has had hard losses it happens,as a fan you have to pick yourself up and try to be positive for the next tournament.

Well you can thank Isner & Co. who can never break serve for changing the rules regarding final set TB's.
I think it was wrong to change the rules because of essentially one player. If you take him out of the equation, then you eliminate those two extremely long matches. As you state, he couldn’t break serve, and Anderson and Mahut couldn’t break his serve. That’s their problem, and shouldn’t affect everyone else.

I keep thinking of Isner as a throwback, but he essentially is doing more than S & V to win! His backcourt game keeps him in matches, but not much else; hence the inability to break! Back "in the day" with someone like Pancho Gonzalez he had the same dominance in his serving games, but went all out to break! John seems to just hang in until the TB! I try never to watch much of his matches unless he's upsetting someone Agassi at the USO! Boy is he old, which makes me "dust in the wind!" :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :-)2
