It's locked at two sets all and 4 games all, now. Both players playing their best tennis at the same time!

Tsitsipas breaks at the stroke of midnight melbourne time, leads it by 5-4. Taylor appeared to get nervy at 30 all on his serve, served a double fault. He saved the first break-point but then on deuce missed an easy forehand cross-court and then lost the game. So now the #4 seed serves for the match.

Number 4 seed Tsitsipas wins the match on his first match point with a rare serve-volley ! He's in the quarters! Really bad luck to Taylor Fritz as he fought every inch and the last two games appeared to tense up. He'll learn from this!

It was sad to see Fritz unable to close out the match against Tsitsipas, it's obvious after being up two sets to one that the issues are not what happens on the court but what goes on in Fritz's head. Great effort from FAA, even though Cilic is older he is a formidable hard court opponent and I though a dark horse for a semifinal spot. In the end I believe Medvedev will live up to his number two seeding. I see a Nadal-Berrettini semifinal, but then again I think we should all look at this round by round rather then being so confident in our predictions (or should I say hopes? lol). Have a great day folks!

I like Taylor, but he's a headcase. Has been for a few years now. Has all the technical capability, but is severely lacking where it matters the most. I like Annacone helping him because it has made his game better, but Paul cannot fix his head. He needs to see sports psychologist for that as does FAA.

Medvedev comes through in 4, but not without a lot of aggravation. And my US commies think he has something to answer for, audibly slagging his opponent. For me, Cressy accomplished his mission, to the best of his abilities, and my hopes: unsettled DM, and won a set.
I watched a replay on the Tennis Channel a little while ago, and noticed the same thing. I was surprised how out of sorts he seemed: talking to himself, his coach, the chair umpire. Yeah, not at all the calm, focused player he appeared to be in earlier rounds.

Well his court positioning doesn’t help him when he encounters players that aren’t afraid of the net.

This is what happened to him at IW. Remember, he was rolling over Dimi and then inexplicably up a set and a break, just started spraying the ball and muttering to himself (as if he had been taken over by the pod people). In that match, he never did get back on track. He lost his chance to grab the #1 spot. I've noticed it's a weakness. Maybe he loses focus w/ a particular kind of player and he's unsure of how to respond. So he panics instead of just taking care of his own game.

Also read that Medvedev was not too happy being on Margaret Court Arena?
The nerve? Try asking Pops Marin about being sanctioned to court 7 for most of his matches. The dude won a slam and has been to the final of others. I noticed when posting the daily results all former slam champs played on RLA or MCA no matter what slam it was they had won except for Marin.

earlier today, wins for Danill MEDVEDEV in four sets over Maxime CRESSY, the American who's been trying to bring back serve-volley and attacking game.

Jannick SINNER won his match in straight sets Vs Alex DeMinaur, but it was closer than the overall score, 7-6,6-3,6-4. Watching this, my loyalties were divided between these two.

Two Italians now in the quarters.

Sinner has owned DeMinaur from the beginning! IIRC in the Next-Gen event several yrs ago, Sinner came in as an "also ran," & beat Alex in str. sets!

You guys need to toughen up okay...lol!
Guurl puhleeze, I need my rest! That's like telling the peeps at the old folks home not to take multiple bingo cards. They have short term memory loss, they are going to do exactly the opposite of whatever you say and grab 5 cards anyway :lulz1:

Agree, I think Medvedev was just being Medevedev.,also the fact that his opponent was getting under his skin,he also said at one stage...this is boring!

It's way too early in his career for him to turn into a diva. I need one top player to stay real and not have this larger than life persona,

i think young american Taylor Fritz could be what you are looking for. I never saw him play before but was really impressd with the way he went about his tennis in his R16 against Tsitsipas. An upset was certainly brewing and it was especially good to see a player that does not over- react following a long rally , a winner, or service break in their favour. Great to watch.
As i said before, the boy was solid up until it got to 4 game all in the final set where he appeared to tense up and also gambled by coming to the net twice during baseline rallies, losing both times.

P.S. can you tell me if the above 10 minute vid plays in your country. I certainly do not want to end up with egg on my face - again :face-with-tears-of-joy:
