Shame to lose it on a df, but valiant match from Carlos. A lot of the commies said that Matteo would win it on experience, but the youngster put it off for a long time.

It's like in football, no one likes a shoot-out. But the other option is they play until they die, and that's no good, either.
Sorry I do not like t.breaks both players played well enough to make it to a 5th set and they should play to an advantage like the good old days...remember I am an dinosaur

Carlos isn’t that far along. The way he is improving Berrettini and the rest of the top 10 are going to hate seeing him on their side of the draw. He’ll get better and take out Matteo next time.

But then you have nothing left for the next match. Something has to give.

That was some match. I thought Kyrgios v Medvedev was entertaining, but this one had the drama, including of a young player announcing his presence on the big stage. Brad Gilbert says Alcaraz himself will be top 10 by the end of the year. We shall see, but no one is going to be keen to play him.

I don’t know about top 10 it will depend on the rest of his year, but he has the goods to make a run at a Masters 1000 or even a slam. I could see him going far at Miami or even winning it with the right draw.

yeah he became tentative for the most part, especially with the 4-4 game in that third set.
