They were very pro Thiem, very quiet on Nole's winning points. He does have a lot of support here from true tennis fans but its going go be tough if he plays Murray in this arena. Another aspect of it is that the British love underdogs. Nole has never been an underdog!

I know they were happy when Thiem won the first set and I thought it was ok because he was an underdog, also there were many his compatriots, but they were ok to No1e too. I also didn't notice they were against him in the match against Raonic. It is only normal they cheer for their own player against Novak, good thing he used to that. His shoulder worries me much more.

Our commentators are the reason for it, IMO, because everything JMac says becomes talking points. I agree about the biased reporting, but here's how I see it. When my guy was on top I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm not going to turn around and start dogging out others who reach the same pinnacle. That's not for us to worry about. I would just enjoy my player and ignore the foolishness, because in the end that's all we can do.

You have a great attitude. Normally I can ignore the rubbish but every so often I have to let rip! At present I am involved in campaigning against the UK main stream media mainly on political grounds and we are seeing some success so I am in fight mode![/QUOTE]

Against what in particular are you protesting?

that could very well happen -- it's expected and really -- quite natural for home crowd to do that .

i think NOLE will be ready for that . he has enoughe xperience about it.

i mean -- we should remember how the NYC crowd in USOPEN have for years been rather the same way with him when paired against the darling Roger, and above all -- andy roddick.

remember THAT year sometime when andy got beaten by nole, badly too,

and if i remember correctly .

PRIOR to the match -- nole was of course entertaining crowds -- understanbly to also build up his own support or more open embrace - by doing what crowds everywhere hd begun to demand from nole every match -- which is to do his famous ''imitations' ?

let's remember that it was NOT NOLE who PUSHED HIMSELF that way onto audiences..it started BECAUSE some players in the locker room - in their banter discovered nole doing that with HIS friends - and they got entertained and then began PUSHING HIM to do it in public for added ''entertainment to spice up tennis for the crowds" and THEN the promoters and officials went with it --

and NOLE was a HIT...felow players understanding it was all for fun and nothing personal - maria sharapova habits, roger habits, rafa habits, -- ...

they had a CLOWN willing to do what people wanted him to do...

THEN from out of NOWHERE -- THIS andy roddick - probably getting annoyed --

quipped to reporters that ''it's getting stale " and that ''NOT every player is amused" being imitated by nole that way -- you know, THINK SKINNED people ...

including HIM ...
AND then NOLE BEAT HIM BADLY in their upcoming match...

and GRACIOUSLY said to the crowd who INSISTED he do more of his imiaations -- that 'maybe i shouldn't because not everyone will like it" - but did some anyway - MINUS the roddick one...

so -- what was THAT all about?

we learn one thing

where it comes to NOLE -- singularly so almost --

he'd be damned if he DID - damned if he DIDN'T!!

when ALL nole was really trying to do besides fighting for HIS VICTORY as honestly as he could -- was to PLEASE PEOPLE IF THEY SO DEMANDED...

but there are ALWAYS THOSE who are snippety about HIM - ..AND FIND CAUSE to point out that he committed a mortal sin -- when NONE of them could do what HE could do in the tennis AND to satisfy WHATEVER it is crowds all over the world DEMANDED from him...

whether being DIGNIFIED , ARTICULATE, PROFESSIONAL, RESPECTFUL, WITTY, SINGING, DANCING, CULTURED -- AND A CHAMPION...

but give it a smallest CHANCE -- HE'S SUDDENLY THE BAD, BAD ONE

and why really?

I THINK I HAVE THE ANSWER --

HE'S SERBIAN - HE'S SLAVIC -- he's from THAT placde somewhere over THERE....WHERE PEOPLE aren't/ as GOOD AS OURSELVES!!

even if he's got TEN MORE TIMES WORTH HIS WEIGHT IN GOLD than ANY of them worth LESS than a gram of nickel!
I remember Roddick being very negative, especially when Novak had health problems. But oddly in 2015 he was commentating at Wimbledon and was great. His commentary was very sound. He also tipped Novak to win and praised him highly. Maturity and losing the stress of competition I guess.

This is off topic of course so forgive me people. Our papers and BBC are right wing, dominated by Murdoch and Rothermere. Coverage of left wing politicians is blatantly untruthful. Three papers, The Sun, Mail and Express have a very high level of racist coverage. Since the referendum race hate crime has soared. These papers are actively promoting hate. The campaigns are encouraging people not to buy and asking companies not to advertise. Also promoting smaller media and raising crowdfundfing support for them. Very hard to succeed of course but even making a few hundred people question what they read is worth it.

The shoulder has worried me for months. I am still concerned he has a chronic injury.

To every thing there is a season and a time for everything under the sun; a time for peace and a time for war. Sometimes I get in fight mode too. It's hard to constantly ignore the bias, so go for it. We need people who fight the bull, otherwise where would the world be?

Thankyou. The world is full of good people but on the whole we are far too quiet!

You're sweet, but most importantly you CARE. That's important. Too many people say, "That's just the way it is..." I hate that.

Yep, I hate arguing and divisiveness. It serves no good purpose.

Rafa has had a rough way for years in Paris playing the RG and winning year by year which some French couldn't stand due to the sport rivalry between both Countries until the last four years when the crowd have supported him much better . But I don't think Rafa was too worry about it and that's what every player should do
The good thing is that most of the tennis followers love Rafa and they miss him a lot like now in London

Thiem is great, a really attractive game and I think a great attitude. But his fitness bothers me, I hope he can avoid injuries next season. We expect the wear and tear to take its toll on the older players but I hate to see the younger ones like Thiem, Edmunds and Raonic losing out because of problems as they have this season.

Rafa is one of the greatest players and loveliest personalities I have ever seen in tennis. When he first came onto the scene he was a breath of fresh air. I was lucky enough to see his first Wimbledon win over Roger and its is a treasured memory. This tournament feels like something very special is missing without him and the whole game is poorer without him. I loved the way he was in London, saw him buying pasta in a supermarket once and he said he cooked for his family and team himself!!

I may have missed it but has he settled the court case he was taking out against the French ex sports minister? I was so pleased he answered back and was willing to act on it. He did a great interview with the UK Times recently, sounded very positive about next year.

if kei loses this set -- HE will rue all the opportunities he failed to take.

his camp and he have to take care of ONE THING:

PSYCHOLOGICALLY -- he does get tight in matches -- and often UNNECESSARILY so . and if you look at him closely after a point played - even when he has won it -- he gives a HUGE rush of blow-out air - which MEANS - AS HE PLAYS OR HITS -- HE is holding his breath too tightly . or his breathing is too shallow..or held in, i think this is one reason he can't quite ''let loose" when HE is the one already in control of a rally.

he needs a bit more JAPANESE -- ZEN CALM since he's got the shots and often creates opportunities...and then.......ooops...

I think it comes down to his movement. When he can get really on the ball his shots are often winners but he is still a bit slow and his footwork is limited so he is often hitting from a bad position.

hehe -- well said - MARY .

REMEMBER THE 'EPIC" that that win by rafa -- for his first wimbledon - in the way it built up for 3 years?

FIRST - his FIRST year ON GRASS - he was just a 'challenger' that was defined by most as ''he will never win wimbledon -- "

to 'he will never get PAST the FIRST WEEK".
then he reached FINALS...but was sort of outclassed by roger..

the SECOND TRY -- ''he will never get past the first week -- it was a FLUKE last year -- " and he got to finals but lost a TIGHT 5 SETTER -- WHERE the MISSING LINK WAS a BIG first serve ...

THE thrirde and successful try --

roger himself even quipped "i'd be surprised if he mde it to the second week" kind of putdown...

and THIS TIME RAFA worked on his SERVE to complete the '''transformation" -- (volleyes had already improved so much they already were in some part BETTER than roger's in the PREVIOUS year) ..

AND won THAT one.

remmeber that sequence over the years..? that was so funny in its own way.

and then he didn't participate to defend the next year --2009 which roger WON - BUT returned in2010 (rafa's triple crown -- FO-WIMBLEDON, USO) -
TO ''defend" it gainst berdych who took down roger?

CONCEIVABLY -- RAFA might have done a 3 consecutive wimbledons hd he plyed 2009 well and repeated what he had done the previous 3 years -- meet the same man in the finals ...since rafa LIERALLY owned roger in those years on ANY court.
