Exactly. That is what I was saying too. RF has said in interviews before that itself that he does not care for #1 and/or #1 is
not realistic at this time. But, if he wins Wimbledon, he may think about #1. I agree with overplaying scenario. But, in his
defense he might have thought that due to extended rest that he got during clay season, he might have it in him to
play Montreal, Cincy and then USO (not comparable to 2014 scenario).

at his age the worst he could do was overloading the schedule. He didn't have to get it in Montreal or Cincy, where he had to really push it to play.

Roger took an easier path in 2017 whereas Rafa struggle outside the clay tournaments. Rest is crucial to an aging athlete especially to a tennis player.

McFly must be crippled. Good for Grigor to advance though. I know he's never beat Roger but he figures to be the only semi-threat from that group and at this point I'd give him the edge to make the final assuming he's not playing Roger in the semis.

Most probably Grigor will win his group and thus most probably play Sasha in SF.

And I've read other posters here saying that Novak isn't even able to practice with his right hand yet. If that's true it is pretty alarming. If he's healthy and good to go I think he comes back strong. He's too good and ambitious to just completely go away IMO. After this year he is suddenly a distant 3rd wheel again in the all-time comparisons with him, Fed and Rafa. If that doesn't motivate him then he truly is done.
