Bad one:

Rough news in Washington: Grigor Dimitrov has pulled out of the Citi Open due to "the flu and a sinus infection." #CitiOpen

Have to say that I'm glad he's sitting this one out, but not for the flu/infection that caused the withdrawal. He's running with the big dogs now, so Toronto and Cinci are the "warm-ups" to focus on before the Open. Hope he's back to full health shortly.

Yeah I'm sure it's just a precaution and nothing bad enough to keep him out of the upcoming Masters events. Sucks that the tournament loses one of the interesting players though.

Agreed, still a pretty strong field, but regrettable.

It is really a good move by Grigor considering that he has only 100 points to defend in
the two NA Masters.

On the other hand Milos has a lot (690) to defend in the two masters and needed to tack
on Washington just in case he could not defend all his points.

Folks should realize that Andy (has only 270 to defend in the two masters) would
desperately want to get into top 8 before USO starts and in order to do so he needs
to displace at least one of Grigor or Milos. It will be interesting to watch the dynamics
between these guys as they fight to get a top 8 seed in USO.

Tiafoe had a rough start, but recouped a bit in the first. Lost the first 4-6.

Great job saving the BP and working the crowd. He got robbed on that last serve by the ump.

Milos played Washington last year as well, it is in his calendar, not a back-up.

What is your take on his game. The second serve is a big liability. Great racket head speed on the forehand despite the iffy preparation.

Tiafoe with some great points, and the break back! JLLB's teenager is Morna Coric. Mine is Tiafoe. He may not win this match, but he seems to be improving and learning as this match goes along.

Gimel just noted the teens making main draw waves...Coric, Zverev....Annacone asked him if this was a flash or a new trend...did they see my thread hehe?

The kid has a nice forehand but he has huge control issues. Has a nice compact backhand on returns that I like very much. Shot selection , just like most youngsters, is bad but he will learn that in time.

Forehand prep is a big issue. It needs to be surgically trimmed. When he has time, like in the juniors, he can rip the cover off it.

Shot selection is highly suspect.

Also a pretty soft 2nd serve.

Big hold. Good for the kid. Lots of upside, for 16, imo.

I see you had already noted the 2nd serve, before I did.

Donsky wins, but Tiafoe showed some good stuff. 4 & 4 is not bad, at this level, and the local pressure was on. CitiOpen billboarded on their site that Tiafoe was playing at 8pm tonight.

Truth be told Don Skay could have won this 2 and 1. He played very safely.

Earlier, I saw the second set between Tomic and Gonzalez. Bernie was very impressive. I hope he continues his comeback.
