Actually, he's a much needed breath of fresh air on the ATP tour and doesn't lie to the media to create a false persona. He tells it like it is. He hates clay so probably he just couldn't be bothered playing and is getting ready for the grass season where he should be a force to be reckoned with if he holds it together. Not likely but that's why I said should and not will.

The second possibility is he's actually been banned by the ATP and not allowed play RG which would be idiotic but you never know with those ATP clowns who are so easily swayed by the media and even talk from the likes of his opponent Ruud at Rome suggesting he should be banned could have put ideas in their heads and they just tell the public he's "sick". Just a hunch but it's not like they're honest.
After he declared that the French Open "sucks" a few days ago and headed to Wimbledon to practice, I was surprised to see him in the draw in the first place.

True. That made no sense tbh. Either he genuinely couldn't be bothered even playing or he was banned by the ATP imo because he's sure as hell not sick.

If you don't think that wacky Nicky is "Sick" then surely you haven't been paying attention.

It wouldn't matter anyways. We are left rooting for a miracle, hopefully the asshole at least works those knees to dust. Time for him to start a family and retire.

I feel the same way when I am watching golf, I hope everyone hit their shots either to long or short except for Tiger.

Nick is a talented player, with lots of issues. I don't think he needs to be made either a laughing stock, or a poster boy for bad-boy behavior as the "new black."

What does his ethnicity has to do with anything.. there's a lot of talented tennis players who isn't as assine as he is..

Sorry, perhaps a poor choice of words. It's a fashion reference...I thought guys would get it, too. I was just riffing off of the trope that "fill in here" is the 'new black'. Referring to the chicest color to wear. I.e., "Orange is the New Black." Maybe too much of a chick reference for guys.

What I meant, and I'm sorry if the metaphor was too belabored, is that a lot of people are taking a fashion for his antics and blatant opinions. My worry is that we're making light of his self-destructive behavior.

I am a guy and I got that. You have done/said/written nothing to be sorry about.

Hopefully Gulbis teaches Ruud a lesson. Never watched Ruud playing but by suggesting Kyrgios should be banned I already dislike him and have no desire to watch him play. Have a feeling the ATP may have listened to the prick and actually banned Kyrgios from RG and made up the illness bs excuse.

Unlikely, since the majors aren’t run by the ATP, but we’ll see what happens after RG. He’s been to Queen’s Club before, but I don’t know if he’s scheduled for it this year.

Hope he will play, it would be sad if he couldn't and more a player like him with so much motivation and enthusiasm

I hope this type of silly decisions, to play through an injury will not happen again with Felix.
He should have forfeited the final altogether if he was already injured.

I'm not convinced by this. His choice to see the final out is elegant. He's young, with still a lot to learn. I would hope that he wouldn't learn to bail on a final. What he might better learn is scheduling and training, especially in the run-up to a Major.

At his age and experience the majors are not the focal point.
Don't forget he has had only one appearance in the main draw of a major and that R1 match was against De is ending with an abandonment. Basically his experience in majors is zil.
That is why he played the event before the slam. All players with his record do that.

I'm not giving him a hard time for playing in Lyon. I'm just saying that he's on the cusp of playing 250s for the points, and ruining his chances at Majors. He is a superstar in the making. Different choices will be made for him, and very soon.
