Well I can't recall what each member of the media predicted or the bookmakers, but I never believed Djokovic had the ability to beat down-the-line-Nadal at a slam.

Yet Berdych, Kyrgios, Marcy Darcy and others have the ability to beat "down-the-line" Rafa at a slam. The way you talk you'd think Rafa is the best player in the world or something.

I will dismiss that notion to my dying breath! Rafa's had a few noteworthy seasons, a long string of wins at one major, and has a career Grand Slam, but that's about it with me! He can surpass Federer in the major's count, but I'll still argue Nadal's limitations; which are glaring BTW! Have you ever heard of ANY top player that has never defended a title off clay; EVER? The repeated, timed, and
extended absences from the tour; supposed injuries! Again, other than Agassi, that just doesn't
happen to a GOAT! I'd rather watch the beauty and fluidity of an artistic player over a grinder and
IMO one of the ugliest games in history! Even Francois Durr's lift leg on her bunting serve wasn't as ugly looking as Rafa's game; the forehand and backhand, even though effective! He's just too hard to watch; even when he's floundering as he's done at Wimbledon of late! He offends my sensibilities I guess; being a fan and player of the game since the early 70's! :cover :nono  :dodgy:

Wow what a comment!!! supposed injuries? ugly game? too hard to watch? ok, then don't watch him anymore just in case your sensivilities could be too much hurted and offended LOL, don't you have anything bad things to say? anyway he doesn't need tennis followers like you at all, he has enough fans who admire him as he deserved and we know perfectly well why he has enemies like you, relax.
And I'm trying don't say anything about what (not just me) others think about that 'beauty and fluidity" and more when that "artistic player" plays against that one who you hate so badly

Beating Djokovic in a 3rd set tiebreak didn't make him the favorite at the USO. Djokovic is better than Rafa on hard courts both overall and head to head. And the draw always matters. Rafa had a bye to the finals.

When Berdych has beaten Nadal at a GS? if I remember well he did beat Federer in Wimbledon 2010, isn't?

No way Nadal is the favourite at Canada and Cincy. Granted he won both last year but favourite, no.

Rafa won the two master series titles in Cincy and Montreal 2013

I don't remember Nadal being the favorite for those tournaments either.

It made a diference being the favorite or not? he won both HC tournaments which was more important than being the favorite ;):snicker

Right, but it was after a surgery and months out of the court so it was a predictable loss, don't you think?

No, that's what you are talking about.
I'm talking about Djokovic vs Nadal.
I know the best player in the world is the player who wins the most non-slams.

Call me when someone wins 2 slams in a calendar year.
Nadal is the last player to do that, and its because Djokovic has no idea how to beat Nadal at a slam anymore (neither does Murray/Federer).
And we aren't even talking about prime Nadal - 2010, when he won Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open (which no other tennis player can do), and 2008 when he won the first of his Channel Slams (Roland Garros and Wimbledon).

The best player in the world is the guy who wins the most slams. It just so happens he has also won 3 straight YEC's, he has been #1 3 out of the last 4 years and is something like 12-7 vs your beloved in that time period.

^ In this case the best player in the world is the guy who wins the most NON-SLAMs, because the last time Djokovic won more slams than Nadal was all the way back in 2011.

And your h2h proves the importance of NON-SLAMS because despite being 12-7 vs Nadal since 2011 he is only 3-4 vs Nadal since 2011 at the slams (and a bad sign for Djokovic is that all 4 of Nadal's slam wins have come in their last 4 slam meetings).

Rafa H2H vs everyone in the top 30-40 is still outstanding, even vs Djokovic. Rafa record in the GS finals is the highest ever, to be able to dominate RG which most feel is the toughest Slam to capture, I wouldn't be so dismissive about him.Look how he overcame all those finals losses to Nole and turn it around. Has Fed Ever been able to reverse his H2H vs Rafa since 2008, No( not a Rafa No). That guy is still getting his game back after his recent injury setbacks, as Cahill said during the AO, I will not count against Rafa at RG or making another comeback towards the top spots of the ATP rankings.

Same old same old. Nadal has been the worst nightmare for most of the Federer's fans since 2004 Nadal only 17 years old and ranked 34 at the time beat the then #1 in straigh sets in Miami. Two months later he beat him again in RG. This was a little too much for Roger's fans sensivility due to their strong pasion for him, their revenge? to show constantly the disdain :cry :basiate :dodgy:
But wait, not everyone acts that way, I also know many Roger's fans who know to give credit to who deserves it and also they have a big admiration for Rafa bc they are really follower tennis and which are a pleasure to listen what they say about that rivality and the game of each one ;)

^don't be so defensive. I'm not picking Nadal (older posters would know that). I'm just leting our sole Berdych fan have a bit of fun. Not all tennis forums have the luxury of having a real, wild and healthy Berdych fan around.

I am a Rafa fan, though to put things into proper prospective

Yes Rafa has a leading h2h over Federer, though last time I checked Federer has 17 GS titles to Rafa's 14 GS titles. At the end of the day people dont take into a great account of a h2h figure on a player,it is the many titles and also the Grand Slam titles that count.Neither player has retired,so lets wait to see how many titles and Grand Slam titles each player has,at this stage Federer on his records alone to me still out shines Rafa.

Nobody is saying that Roger is not the best player of this era, he has the most GS numbers which means a lot but not for that reason he or Rafa deserve to be despised, on the contrary they have to be admired in spite who is the fav, both are a great players:clap

Forget about the records that Nadal has (10 straight years of slams, winner of 3 slams on 3 surfaces in 2010, 81 straight wins on a single surface, 27 masters shields), or the records that Federer has (weeks ranked number one, quarter-final streak, WTF), because if they are tied on 17 slams, the h2h will be what the media hype-up more than anything.

^ As I said in my post, lets wait till both players have retired to see each individual resumes.Tennis Historians will have their say,I dont take notice of 'media hype up' at all,at the end of the day that has no real bearing over a player's overall titles and accomplishments.
