^ As I said in my post, lets wait till both players have retired to see each individual resumes.Tennis Historians will have their say,I dont take notice of 'media hype up' at all,at the end of the day that has no real bearing over a player's overall titles and accomplishments.

Most stats have no bearing, because most people don't look at stats, apart from the most publicized numbers - slam total, head2head (the head2head is mentioned before EVERY match on the entire tour).

And by media I mean former players like John McEnroe and Andre Agassi (and Agassi already said "I'd put Nadal No. 1, Federer No. 2,").
Those quotes will be quoted forever, and replayed in documentaries etc.

^ For starters I dont take any notice of John McEnroe when Rafa is playing full stop.He acts like a total 'fan boy'.I cringe with some of his comments quite frankly. If he is on a Rafa match I Mute Him.
I personally dont take much account of a h2h in a players record.I look at their overall titles and GS titles.I have stated my thoughts on this matter.End of this conversation for me.Thanks.

^ Same here, I put slam titles above everything else.
Federer is #1 of this era until Nadal equals or betters his slam tally.

I am a Rafa fan, though to put things into proper prospective

Yes Rafa has a leading h2h over Federer, though last time I checked Federer has 17 GS titles to Rafa's 14 GS titles. At the end of the day people dont take into a great account of a h2h figure on a player,it is the many titles and also the Grand Slam titles that count.Neither player has retired,so lets wait to see how many titles and Grand Slam titles each player has,at this stage Federer on his records alone to me still out shines Rafa.

I am sure Fed will have winning overall H2H record against Rafa when they both hang up their
racquets after finishing their Senior Tour Events (unless of course Rafa chooses not to mess with
the senior circuit at all).

Well I can't recall what each member of the media predicted or the bookmakers, but I never believed Djokovic had the ability to beat down-the-line-Nadal at a slam.

Yet Berdych, Kyrgios, Marcy Darcy and others have the ability to beat "down-the-line" Rafa at a slam. The way you talk you'd think Rafa is the best player in the world or something.

I will dismiss that notion to my dying breath! Rafa's had a few noteworthy seasons, a long string of wins at one major, and has a career Grand Slam, but that's about it with me!

...and the most Masters 1000 events in history, and an Olympic medal, and finished year end world number 1 three times, and won 14 slams, and is the greatest clay courter of all time...but that's about it with me!

The only goals I have left for Nadal-
Double Career Grand Slam (needs another AO).
Double Career Golden Grand Slam (needs another AO and another Gold).
10 French Open titles.
More Slams than Federer.

I'm sure he'll be keeping your goals front and center in his mind.

^ I don't remember ever telling him about them, but I get the impression he wants to surpass Federer's slam titles.
There have been a couple of quotes from Nadal and his Uncle that have suggested they have their eye on Federer's record.
And I also get the impression that Nadal perhaps prioritizes the Rio Olympics above everything else in tennis.
And even though he probably doesn't think of the Double Career Grand Slam, I suspect he's become a bit obsessed with the Australian Open because of the unlucky results there - not just the 2012/2014 finals, but the QF when he tore the hamstring vs Ferrer when he was going for The Rafa Slam (and Laver said he thought Nadal was going to do it).

Defeat Federer at the US OPEN to complete the "Fed Slam"

That's a tad harsh, no? I'm a fan of the sport first, Roger second, and Rafa is one of the half a dozen greatest players ever, so it will be a sad day indeed when he retires. At the least isn't he the player you love to hate?

Won't be sad for me at all. That's an often overused phrase when it comes to sports. And I have my reasons when it comes to Nads.

As a tennis fan I also have my favorite and non favorite players.I am not a fan of Federer by any way shape or form, still it will be a sad day in tennis when he finally retires.I credit him for what he has brought to the game of tennis, both on and off the court.

And your reason IS.. (send me a PM if its personal like Rafa stole your high school sweetheart or if you saw him selling insurance at the local senior citizen housing community):snicker

Is not Argentina Open done? For a 250 tourney that was over about a week ago, this
is still generating lot of discussion. :nono
