still if they can having him holding a slam trophy before he calls it a day, that has to be a win for them

so your definition tells me they are happy having him out there representing their brand, no matter what he's doing

yes absolutely Kate. But him holding a trophy is jackpot for them. It has to be. And RG would destroy any chance of that this year

That must be the definition, K, since they signed up a guy in his late 30s for 10 years

Yeah definitely. He lost a close against Tsitsipas here. And a close one against DelPo in IW last year. Or was that Miami. Idk. Novak at this level is the favorite. He's been better there until his fall than Fed was. And that's saying something.
Novak was solid tonight, it was Rafa playing below himself. If you can’t see it, try and pull your head out of his ass.

i knew Djokovic was a bad matchup but didn't expect this as they went 5 sets in 2012. The difference, i think, was that in 2012, Nole had gone 5 hours with Murray in semis and was perhaps not fresh, Nadal also played better in that match. I said Nadal needed to serve really well and use his down the line fh well today, he didn't and he was helpless. Djokovic's return punishes Nadal's serve, Djokovic's movement takes Nadal's angles away, Djokovic's ability to take ball early takes Nadal's time away and his physicality matches Nadal's, it's a difficult task. An in form Nole is just too much for Rafa unless Rafa serves lights out and hit's his down the line fh lights out... even then, difficult.

I've only been able to follow a bit. Magnus seems to be in strong form. I had a feeling that match with Caruana would provide a boost! I still can't believe he won that game vs Anand, only he is capable of pulling that off.

So I taped this thing...if I watch it, am I watching a masterclass by Nole, a suck fest by Rafa, a bit of both? Time is a hot commodity...
Watch the first set and you will see a masterclass by Djokovic. He lost only one point on his serve that set.

Great result to wake up to. I am very happy to see Novak continuing to win the important trophies and pulled himself back where he was in 2016.
He is the Aussie open Master once again.
