I know some folks around here disagree that Nick is especially talented, but he plays some creative, imaginative tennis.

I always thought Nick is talented. Many people are so frustrated with his attitude that they refuse to acknowledge that he is talented.

Not all. @mrzz really knows his tennis, and he's not easily swayed by emotion. He flat doesn't think Nick is as talented as people say.

2 Championship points for NK.

Hopefully, this is the turning point for Kyrgios.
A focused and motivated Kyrgios seems like a dangerous thing. Commies mentioned that Nick likes a marquee match, and the draw was tailor-made for that. He beat Rafa, Stan, Isner and Sascha to win the title.

I don't think that matters much. Question is: can he stay healthy and retain focus and some momentum for Wimbledon, which is where he could really do damage, and should be a dark horse, at least.

It does matter a little because N.kyrgios is momentum player, so he need to keep it going even if he does not win Indian wells.

Kyrgios is so NOT a momentum player. He's randomly inspired and no one knows when he'll get hot. Please.

The real question is how did he manage to beat Seppi in 1R.

Well He was in 2017 but OK your opinion I think he is even if its just one or two events, I would not count him out of getting deep in Indian wells.

What momentum did he ever capitalize on? Not trying to be a pain...sincerely asking. I don't remember the particulars of his 2017. PS: I'm not counting him out of a good run at IW, I'm just saying I don't think it matters that much, for him having other, better, results.

Today is not really capitalizing on momentum, except for in 1 tournament. In 2017, he had some random good results but won no tournaments. Perhaps you and I have different expectations for Kyrgios.

Mrzz knows ten times more about tennis than I'll ever know, but I disagree with this (if that is truly his take). Kyrgios has proven, time and time again, to be able to hang with the very best -- moreso than any active player, with the possible exception of del Potro, or at least the pre-Frankenpotro version. Zverev is more consistent, but I don't think is as explosive or dangerous; Tsitsipas has a more well-rounded game and may surpass even Kyrgios's best, but Kyrgios at his best is simply ferocious.

It is highly unlikely that Kyrgios will every actualize his talent. We can look at Zverev and Tsitsipas and feel confident that they'll both win multiple Slams and reach #1 at some point, but Kyrgios still has such a wide range of outcomes: He could end up dominating for a few years and winning Slams, or he could never reach the top 10 or win a big title. Chances are it is somewhere in-between.
