No one said it wasn't a good achievement to win a title and it was indeed good but simply stating the obvious: Murray is no Ashe, Newcombe or Wilander.

Not many people have said it is a good achievement either.

Another thing nobody said was that Murray IS an Ashe, Newcombe or Wilander, so I don't see why you feel the need to be going on about it, any excuse to try and put him down, I suppose.

Not that it bothers me. It would just be nice to see him get some credit on this forum from time to time, even though he's not well loved in general, rather than reading through pages of discussion on all the people Murray isn't as good as, how he only won his majors because of Lendl/because Djokovic played crap in those matches/because he's lucky or whatever else. Not holding my breath though.

Ok, let me reiterate, it most definitely is a good achievement as Kohlschreiber is a fine player on clay and tough to beat as the score indicates. I was just replying to the post below because it took nothing into account as regards the mix of said titles.

Okay but it's a simple statistic that always gets mentioned about most players who have won a lot of trophies. Nobody was suggesting Murray and say, Newcombe, are now comparable in greatness because of it.

Hi, TF7:

I'm very happy for Andy. He played some good players to get that title, too. I don't know why Andy gets such a hard time on this forum, but I like him. I hope he has a great rest of the year, including another Slam.

You know you're on tennis frontier when Murray wins his first clay title yet most of the messages are still negative towards him.

Well done Andy, a good week and not easy by any means to get past some of the opponents this week.

Onto Madrid.

I think you'll find most tennis sites have users with a negative attitude towards Murray, not just us. I'm not saying that's the correct view of him; it's simply the way things are.

As for myself, I'm very happy for Andy. Winning his first clay title is a noteworthy accomplishment, especially under such trying circumstances (rain delays, playing multiple matches in one day, a two-day final, etc.).

Now I hope he can recover quickly, and be ready for Madrid.

Carol and everyone else who didn't get the memo the first time around. This thread is about Munich and nothing else. Anything unrelated will be deleted.

I don't understand so well that observation, didn't Rosol play in Munich? well my point was that he is an average player, if not we just to see how many titles he has

Congrats Muzz!!!! :clap

Rosol has only the potential to blow a player off the planet (lol) when that one plays horrible or has an injury, fact! :snicker  :p
Honestly, tell me you're not referencing his win over Nadal in this part of your comment and I'll apologize immediately...

^ Of course she is, he only loses when he's injured or plays crap. We all know that. The fact that Rosol was a botched shot away from a 2 sets to love lead at Wimbledon again last year was also for the same reason.

Two days before we were talking about Rosol/Muzz issue and then it came the "Nadal's bump" too. Later some posters kept still talking about it (like Front242 today, he was referring about Nadal like every single day) and then I gave my opinion about Rosol who to me is an average player who doesn't have almost any title and he can't beat to anyone so easy unless some circunstances and NOT just because he beat Nadal
If some posters can to say whatever they want but not me, tell me before to continue posting :nono

No, that's not the case.

Like myself earlier in this thread, Kskate was simply trying to get things back on topic, and not turn this thread into yet another platform to discuss non-related topics, such as Nadal.

Ok, but again, I was the first one to bring Nadal on this thread? I don't think so unless someone else brought him to the conversation (like always on every single thread) and then I gave my opinion about it

Read back through the first pages. No one here at all mentioned Nadal before you did here.

I think we (admins and mods) have demonstrated in an actions-speak-louder-than-words way that we don't tyrannically insist all threads must always stay 100% on topic. Detours are pretty much the norm, and I'll freely admit I've taken part in, if not initiated, such diversions.

However, if it gets to the point where the detour becomes the new route, then we will step in, and get things back on topic.

Now, back to Murray's personal-landmark win on clay ...

First at all I was talking in my last post about Rosol's case and second..... have you never talked about another player even if he is not playing that tournament? hey, any player can be mentioned if we are doing in the right way or there is a good reason to bring him
Or maybe I can't say that Muzz played pretty bad last year on clay against x player or the other one because he could have played much better than that and he is better player than x or x?

I like to think we're just putting his record in perspective! Compared to "The Big 3," he's fallen off a little; not nearly as competitive as a couple years ago against them! I never made a big deal of Lendl or Nole crapping out in those finals; all a part of a past season! Things happened, he had a window of opportunity and took full advantage taking 2 majors and an Olympic Gold!  :dodgy: He'll never be a fave of mines with defensive way he plays allowing "no names" & "also-rans" to take him to the limit; sorta like Rafa! They both work entirely too hard in early rounds!

I like Rosol too so Murray's stupid comment of "everyone hates you" was a bit dense. Wish he was more consistent though.

Did tell you that Lukas was looked upon as a :lolz::lolz: clown
