Yes you do have to have problem solving, but at the end of the day it was up to Madison to come out and complete the game plan and she did it with belief and conviction
Give Aryna credit.. she problem solved brilliantly late in the 1st set and 2nd. the drop shots were brilliant .. Never thought she would add it to her game.. Saba got outplayed today.. Like Madison said, I'm glad I got you back!

I will give credit when it is due, Saba is a GS doubles champion so she should be able to volley lol!

I'm sorry. I was slumbering for most of the match. I'll have to go back and watch the DVR. But I'm glad it went three sets. From all the comments, it sounds like it was a high-quality affair.

My final thoughts on this match Saba did not lose it, Madison took it away from her shot after shot
I have always had a soft spot for Madison and now she finally wins a GS title, at 29 years young :)
I have my Italian doubles team in the final so I will go and watch them
Thanks everyone and I think everyone is soo happy for Madison who deserved her win!

My thoughts were that Saba was overhitting in the first set whilst Madison was steady,on game plan. I felt a little shift in momentum towards the end of the opening set where Saba started finding some rhythm and began mixing in a little variety (some of those droppers were sublime) rather than purely trying to hit the skin off the ball. It was too little too late to save the set. The second set, Saba was finding her range and beginning to edge it. The scoreline in Set 2 was flattering though - as Maddy never went away... she was just losing a few more critical points. It helped that she won that second game in Set 2 - it was like sending an "I'm still here" message and allowed her to serve first in the final set.

I still thought she would fold - even in the third. However, holding serve in the opener was important, and protecting it was crucial. I don't think anyone was outplayed - it was pretty even from my seat and could have gone either way. Madison held it together though, and in the big points she made sure the outcome was on her racquet - who dares wins...and she dared instead of trying to play it safe. As kskate mentioned, hitting that winner to take the match rather than it being decided on an error, kind of summed up her win. Good match!

BB, at the end of the match or when it was 3-3 I bet the odds had to be 2-1 that Keys would find a way to lose it. Heck I didn't watch the beginning of the match because I couldn't take the disappointment again I just taped the match and will watch it from it's entirety. The two hardest hitters in the tour what a popcorn match

I didn't follow the in-game odds but the only time I really started thinking Keys might pull it off was at 4-4. It felt like Rocky/Creed. She'd absorbed everything and was still standing.

As for the coaching , they might as well put the coaches by the umpire chair to save time during change over SMH2

Anyhow, I'm not sure what Aryna said that was bad. I watched her trophy speech - she gave good, authentic props to Keys, expressed her disappointment and wanting to win it next year. She smashed her racket, sure, but it happens. She was totally fine at the ceremony.

Plus, she's a smoke show, so will always be forgiven by me :face-with-tears-of-joy:

4 American in the top 10 .. its been a while since that occured , that's a very competitive top 10 list
I have question marks on Rybakina and Pegula, Rybakina should have done better at the AO, seeing she was caught up in drama with her ex coach, and getting rid of Goran Ivanisevic after the AO, to me wasnt a good choice, I hope the drama she had in 2024. withdrawing from tournaments, getting sick dosent follow her in 2025, she is too good of a player, as she is back with her former coach who she sacked last year in Vukov, he still has to be cleared by WTA after allegations of abuse of Vukov against Rybakina. Pegula getting injured too much, lets see if she can stay in the top ten, I hope Madison can stay in the top ten now she has found her 'new confidence and mentality' and go forward for the rest of the year
