And of course it is very early - I mean, Ben Shelton is #4, Lorenzo Sonego #10, Jiri Lehecka #11. There are always "surprise" (non-elite) players that are high in the ATP Race at this point in the year, but they fall off as they play more tournaments and their ranking equalizes, as better players surpass them. The thing with Fonseca is that he's very young, so he's on an upward trend.

At the beginning of the year my prediction is that he'd finish 2025 just inside the top 40. Now I'm thinking inside the top 20.

Poor Foki! He was serving for the match and appears to have really hit the wall. Now, Kecmanovic is about to take it. It's was in the Spaniard's hand! This is going to sting.

Also I am hearing the powers that be at IW might give Fonseca a WC
Does he even need it, though? Indian Wells is 96 players total, including wildcards and qualifiers. I believe there are about 20 qualifiers, wildcards, and protected rankings, which basically means that if you're in the top 75 or so, you're in - and really it is probably more like 65 or 70, including guys (like Sinner) who won't play.

Good question, I heard that through another tennis channel, looking at his current ranking, with say withdrawals, PR he may not need it

Question about IW is the cut off date. Maybe it's passed already...

I wanted to spare a quick word for Francisco Cerundolo. I wasn't rooting for him, but I did feel bad for him. He wanted that home title and obviously felt the pressure. Anyway, it was a fun match, and he ran into a rocket, and he knows it

Holger Rune has withdrawn from Rio, he will not play again on clay until the European season on the dirt starting in April, and can now recover for the Sunshine Double on hard courts in the US in March
I never understood why he was going to play on clay now anyway...

Just watched the extended highlights. It was a very, very high level match. If both players keep that level they will, at the very least, be spoilers at both IW and Miami.

Fokina missed a winner by millimeters, which would have won him the match, closing out at 6x2 with a double break. Instead Kecmanovic held serve, went on to break him and win all the remaining games, but most of them went to deuce at least, so Fokina kept fighting. Kecmanovic tracked down some shots that one would not believe given his body type.

Fokina needs that little bit more of mental fortitude.

Thinking about the Fonseca x Cerundolo final, it is clear that Cerundolo's nerves got to him. He is still a more developed player than Fonseca (who is growing up extremely fast). But you cannot give him an inch...

Cerundolo played two monster return games both times he kept Fonseca from serving out the match. Simply all his returns were high energy top spins pretty close to the base line, some returning first serves. Fonseca could have played better, yes, but against 95% of the field that would have been enough. Anyway, kid got his head in place and plays an amazing tie break, his only error was a very deep top spin which landed an inch wide, the rest was either perfect defense or unbelievable offense.

With Cuevas on his corner, Cerundolo will add variation to his game and might develop even more. As for Fonseca, he has time on his side. He is developing so fast that we might barely be able to see the existing flaws in his game for much longer.

I got my husband to watch Fonseca in the final, he said for a 18 year old he has so much variety in his game, and a good head on his shoulders, also his said his fhand reminded him of Del Potro's.

Just watching Alcaraz v Cilic in Doha
Alcaraz new service style is still giving the yips, he was lucky not to get broken by Cilic in the early in the 2nd set, he won the 1st set 64, Doha can get very windy and players have to adjust to the windy conditions
Good return game from Alcaraz on Cilic's service game and he will serve for the match 5-4
Alcaraz wins 64 64
