Zheng (7) and Keys (18) both had 3 sets win,
Zheng over Noshova (29)
Keys (18) over Haddad Maia (12)

A bit surprised that Marketa No 6 seed went out in SS to Cirstea 76(1) 63 maybe her personal life ( she is getting a divorce) is affecting her tennis.

Not surprised. She's having her sophomore slump after winning a major. It happens to the best of them. By the way, did anyone notice 2 one-slam wonders formed a doub team and lost yesterday? Tatoo and Scone played doubs yesterday. Probably not a pairing that would motivate one another to do better as they both have underachieved after getting hardware.

I'm surprised too. She's been struggling since the comeback, very seldom she puts a few wins together. I wonder will she ever catch up again with the top players and be a slam contender. Let's give her more time..
Don,
From what I have read recently with Osaka she wants to do better on clay and grass this year, 2 surfaces in the past she has not done well on, so I guess we will see her progress going forward on both surfaces

BTW Zheng will play Osaka next, interesting, especially given the Wim Fissette issue, where he dumped Zheng to go back to coach Osaka

Is Coco Gauff going on 'walkabout ' in 2nd set down 0-5 on serve?
Yep she was just handed a Bagel in the 2nd set by Crisitian
Wake Up Coco!

She heard you all the way from down under. Breaks and holds for 3-1 in decider
Thank Goodness, I will need a lozenge for my throat :)
Coco's serve is still a problem 12 DFs and counting so far in this match

I don't know what Brad is doing to fix the serve, but she needs to go immediately to the practice courts and just hit serves for an hour every day until she gets her rhythm back

I feel at lot of it is 'mental' at times when Coco serves, she needs to go and keep practicing the serve ASAP

She played a good return game and Coco wins 6-3 in the 3rd set over Cristian

It's most definitely a mental break down in her serve Saba was able to get her head together and reinvent her serve

Saba employed that service specialist Bio Engineer remember when her serve went AWOL made all the difference
I also agree Coco when Coco DFs at times it is 'mental"

I have always been suspicious of Lesia Tsurenko with her withdrawls and retirements in matches
Today she retired in her match against Kalinina, with Kalinina winning by retirement 2-0?
It is the 11th time that she has retired/walkover in a match in the last 18 months? honestly and noone from the WTA has question that at all?
Definitely sounds like possible match fixing. My guess is they don't want negative press about her 'cos she's Ukrainian...

Well we wont know because the WTA is weak as water and I am certain they wont investigate, being Ukrainian probably does help her cause

Interested to see how Kalinina (30) performs against Sakkari (5), remember she was a finalist at the Rome tournament in 2023, though had to retire early in the 2nd set due to a left thigh injury against Rybakina, who won the title, their match just started.
