Yes..we know Wim loves $$$$ and publicity.I have noticed that Osaka is now saying her favorite player is Maria and she used to say Serena.Quenwen used to say that Serena was her favorite player and once Wim started coaching her she stopped saying that.Wim , Sharapova,Cljisters are from the same WhatsApp group. Why does he want to associate himself with a drug cheat..
Apparently Wim thought he could make Pova a even better player?

Iga Swiatek (1) and Coco Gauff (3) start their first round matches I dont expect either player to have trouble
Osaka will face Kostyuk, I expect this match will be a tougher test for Osaka than her first round match

Maybe he wanted her to beat Serena consistently.Wim wants the pecks that come with coaching a player with lots of endorsements.Imagine what he is getting from coaching Osaka especially now when her father is not in the picture.

Angie Kerber defeated the No 17 seed Kudermetova with ease 63 60!, Shnaider d Samsonova (15) 61 63, Sasnovich d Alexandrova (14) 60 61
It has been a terrible year so far for many of the top Russians, Kudermetova, Alexandrova, Samsonova, Potapova all underperforming in 2024
The only Russians winning today Kasatkina and Potapova

Osaka continues her solid clay play, defeats Kostyuk (19) 63 62, that was when the match was suspended mid match ( due to rain )

Iga doing Iga things hands a bagel to Pera in the 1st set
Random thought,
Does Iga ever take that hat off, ( it is now Pink) apart from showering etc :)
Iga wins 60 62 ( a little blip when she was serving the match out, broken, she broke straight back)

Quite frankly I dont know what to think about Elena Rybakina, who gets ill, especially at major tournaments?
Elena whose game I love, has withdrawn due to illness, she was the defending champion and now Irina _Camelia Berg gets a walk over to the next round and Oceane Dodid will replace Rybakina in the draw.
This is Elena's 3rd 1000 has missed due to illness, pulled out of QFs in Dubai, could not defend her IW title and now pulling out of Rome, citing illness.

True to form No 8 seed Ons Jabeur loses in her first round match to Sofia Kenin 75 26 64
Good to see Elena Svitolina (16) routing Sara Errani 60 62

Sabalenka (2) will have to take the 'scenic' route if she wants to survive her 1st round match, losing 64 to Volynets, she was leading 4-1 and then imploded
Going 3 as Saba won the 2nd set 63
Saba winning in 3 sets, 46 63 62

There must be something about the Volynets ball that she doesn't like. Isn't this the same girl that had her down MP in the desert?

Remember what I said about Elena being moody. This is exactly her issue. I think she allows her moods to dictate when she plays and even greater when she plays well.

I did remember you saying that, still she was defending champion at a Masters 1000, I mean she made Madrid SF and suddenly gets ill? not for the first time either, is she becoming a bit of a Drama Queen as well? or she could be saving herself to go deep at RG?

In IW this year,
Saba had to save 4 MP to defeat Stearns in the 2nd round
Emma Navarro upsets Saba in R16 at IW
