Jarry is a very good opponent on clay. Arnaldi’s game (to me) seems better suited for hardcourt.. I’m looking forward to seeing how he does on the turf. Berrittini ?? When was the last time he was actually healthy? 2019?My Italian youngsters so far in their home tournament haven't fared well at all, seeing Sinner out with an injury, Berrettini had to withdraw with a virus
Arnaldi going out in SS to Jarry and Mussetti had to retire in the 2nd set to Atmone.
I am not saying Jarry is not good on clay, I was expecting Matteo not to go out in SSJarry is a very good opponent on clay. Arnaldi’s game (to me) seems better suited for hardcourt than clay. Musetti has a really good game, his mental game and also needs to work on his endurance, which at times lets him down,View attachment 9456 I expect Arnaldi will advance past Musetti this year. Flavio Cobolli shows promise. Darderi too. Berrettini, I think is pretty much done.
That was a bit of a fluke… never to be repeated.I dont think we will see Berrettini playing the kind of tennis he played when he made the Wimbledon final,
not quite a fluke. Before his injuries, he posted in the SF and several QF of majors, something Hair Dude is yet to do. Just call him QF dude. That was a bit of a fluke… never to be repeated.
I like the fact that Arnaldi goes for it, and as he matures he will learn to dial it back,. I appreciate that much more than someone like Murray who always battled with being more offensive, even when Lendl was coaching him.
Musetti has turned out to be more of a head case than I had originally thought. Watching his matches is painful. And I like the guy’s tennis.
Thanks for pointing this out to @nehmeth. To call Berrettini a fluke isn't really fair. I know he played Rafa in the SF of the USO...2019. He's not quite Del Potro, either in results, or in injury bad luck, but he rattles around in that unfortunate club. Some of his bad luck has been illness, so maybe that bodes better for comeback. But, like Del Po, he's a huge hitter with a great serve, and a fan favorite. (And not just with the ladies! LOL!)not quite a fluke. Each to his own opinion. He wasn’t a great mover and his backhand needed a lot of work. He was a big powerful ball striker with a big serve. Rublev does not have the same build to be able to bully opponents the way Matteo used to. He is improving and hopefully we will see better results.not quite a fluke. Berrettini’s career best results are in his rearview mirror. I know how a pretty face can blur the lines of objectivity. My favorite Italian player, Camila Giorgi has announced her retirement. I always thought she was top ten material…Thanks for pointing this out to @nehmeth. To call Berrettini a fluke isn't really fair. I know he played Rafa in the SF of the USO...2019. And a tax cheat BTW her and her family are currently on the run and reports have surfaced she and her family are hiding out in the USO? I think you need to recheck your fav Italian player si? He also has a pretty crap backhand like Del Potro had. Sure you'll see highlights of great shots on his BH once in a while, but overall it's his weakest side by far and the reason he hasn't done better along with injury and illness. Thanks for pointing this out to @nehmeth.
